Digital Quest (in ‘’real life’’ Roelof Riphagen), got his first contact with music in his parental house. His father filled the house with the sounds of Beethoven, Mozart, Brahms and other gifted classical composers. Growing up it was the only music he was allowed to listen to. He did not realize then how much this would influence him in his adult life.
While the music had become a big part of his life in those years, he didn’t see it as a part of his future career.
In his teenage years radio was playing 24 hours a day (he wouldn’t miss a thing) and suddenly there was that song: Bohemian Rhapsody, performed by British rockband Queen! This was music he had never heard before and gave him shivers all over. He discovered other great composers like; John Lennon, Ennio Morricone, Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, Mark Knopfler, Alan Parsons, Phil Collins, Enya, etc., but it is with no doubt to say…Queen became his greatest influence later on. The first attempt to produce and write some music was in the late 90’s. With a simple Sequencer program on his computer he created his first melodie; Panflute! Nothing special, but it set him on the way for what he really wanted in life…To express his feelings through music and to share it with others! Digital Quest
creates his own unique sound and always with a certain emotion in his melodies. At the beginning of his musical career he worked with some great singers. Elissa (Canada) did vocals and wrote the lyrics for ‘’Spirit of life’’ (released at Music network on her "greatest hits" cd), his first (worldwide) major breakthrough, played by many radio stations and Dj’s already. He did remixes for Tiff Lacey and Sarah McLachlan. At this moment he is doing remix jobs for several artists. Roelof also is the founder of Digital Quest Music, a dutch based trance label which will be specializing in melodic/uplifting/crossover Trance.
In every culture, all over the world, music is a crucial part of life. Everyone uses music in its own manner. Music can answer to the emotion to which you are in search, Music can stipulate how you feel, Music can make you happy, gladly or sad. Music is comprehensive and a universal language.
