It is often through tragedy and hardship, that one is forced to delve into the pits of themselves and transform pain and anguish into impeccable art. Music breaks the silence through a universal language that fuses us all together and reminds us of our humanness. Through expressing the almost inexpressible, I have gained a greater sense of self and of clarity for the world. Writing enables me to conquer, triumph and overcome.



My mother raised my two brothers and me single-handedly. Her strength and courage in approaching such a daunting task created resilience in me to conquer my dreams. Growing up, music was therapy in our household. It carried us through our daily hardships while nightly I fell asleep listening to old school tunes of Stevie Wonder, Donny Hathaway and Marvin Gaye. Their music inspired me and made me feel alive. This passion and intensity compels me to create the same feelings in others. Through music, I am committed to delivering real life issues that are authentic, honest and relatable to the human experience. I have been afforded great opportunities through this powerful and influential medium. Some opportunities include performing with mentor and music legend Foley (former lead bassist for Miles Davis), and opening for groups such as The Roots and Mint Condition.



At the young age of 18 I chose to leave Columbus, Ohio for the dreams and aspirations of New York City. This portion of my journey has served as a coming of age and has expanded my life in ways unforeseen. In addition to the importance of music in my life, I have also tapped into the inexpressible value of education as a means to living out my vision by self-designing my degree to focus on social justice. The common thread of my journey remains that I thrive on creating a soul-stirring experience that resonates with listeners, speaks to them intrinsically and challenges complacency. I thereby invite you to listen deeply and allow yourself to be elevated.
