The New Jersey Metal-Blues band, DEMÆURGE, established itself during some session at BigNoize in New Brunswick sometime around July 2006. Their goal was simple enough, as is the goal for any band: to make music they wanted to hear.
They all had little in common aside from their mutual friendship with the drummer, Sean, and the muse taunting them heedlessly. The first long jam they played might or might not have had much resemblance to the songs they play now, but the chemistry was instant and undeniable.
Sean brought with him an industry experience, having previously been the drummer of Blind Hate Experiment for a number of years, coupled with a raw energy in drumming, an energy that beat brass and snare to complete destruction, yet didn’t forsake the softer touch of jazz and blues.
On point with the mellow bass that followed sharply along with Sean came Tommie, who brought with him a dynamic variety in his bass lines. These lines intone the musical heartbeat, but stand very well on their own as much as any lead guitar.The guitarists, Billy and B. Hunt, still have yet to decide who is the lead guitarist. And perhaps the music (and the world) is better off that way. Both of them draw from mostly differing influences, but their musical synthesis is only strengthened by the application of this variety.
Finally, the vocalist, Damien, draws his musical experience entirely from musical theater. His classical roots show themselves prominently in the melodic choruses and verses, and his theater experience is evident in his dramatic and energetic live performances.
These five men revel in the experience of making music and sharing it with anyone who wants to listen (and some martini-drinking divorcees who might not).
