.The story of Dekadent goes back at the end of the 90's, when Artur Felicijan started his Black Metal project called Greygap. Original idea behind the music Greygap performed was straight Black Metal with strong influences of ambiental music. A two track demo was recorded in the early 2000 with now almost forgotten "The Straight Line of Creatures", a mysterious song that left it's mark in the underground, but remained hidden and almost every trace of it was lost. At that time Artur was also recording "Per Aspera" for Noctiferia and both the other members of Greygap found interests of their own. Greygap eventually disbanded, until Artur left Noctiferia in 2002 and started to bring Greygap back to life. That exact year a new demo track was recorded and the project for the first time featured female vocals. The music had distanced from the early Greygap recordings and was getting more common to what Dekadent is today.
In late 2004 Artur decided to continue creating Black Metal in a refined way, of exquisite kind. This time, a singer from Slovenian coast Valentina Lacovich was invited to do additional vocals. In January 2005, the first song "Vigred" was recorded and in April when all songs were done, the decision was to name the whole project Vigred and rename the song into "Dekadent". However, when the deal was inked with SMP in early 2006, it was soon decided to rename the project into Dekadent due to international purposes (Vigred means Springtime in older Slovenian). The first eight songs Artur produced were combined into a single opus, called "Manifestation of Seasonal Bleeding", an album of advanced Black Metal compositions and atmosphere, full of spirit that is original and true. The album immediately got great response in the local rock/metal media as well as in metal-zines abroad. In order to promote his work, Artur contacted a fellow graphic designer and video artist Andraz Sedmak, with whom he created a stunning video for the song "Vigred" which premiered on the Annual Museum Night at National Gallery of Modern Arts in Ljubljana.
In October of 2005 drummer Andraz Krpic was asked to join Artur in recording new demo tracks for the next Dekadent release. When Swiss Black Metal label SMP decided to release "Manifestation." in the Autumn of 2006, the recording was put on hold. In April 2006, a decision was made to shoot a second Dekadent video for the song "Dissident Dream". With collaboration of external partners and with the local Academy of Fine Arts & Design, Artur Felicijan and Andraz Sedmak again created an outstanding video masterpiece. The video premiered at the cinema theater Kino Klub Vic in Ljubljana and was also presented at several international arts festivals. In wish of Dekadent becoming a live band, Bostian (Incubation) was recruited as the second guitarist and a few months later, a renowned local metal bassist Andrej Bohnec (ex-Abbatoir/ex-Scaffold) joined the band.
Finally, on September the 18th, Swiss SMP released Dekadent's debut "Manifestation.", an album that was brought to the attention of music media and already received rather good if not excellent response. Promoting their debut album, guys began performing live across the country as well as hitting the stages abroad. Thus, new fans were gained as Dekadent proved themselves as a strong and a great live act.
Not resting a bit, the band prepared their new opus, entitled "The Deliverance of the Fall", which was released in late January of 2008, with their Swiss partners Pentacle Music. It is an audio/visual work of great proportions, something that had changed the meaning of a concept album and metal video! The whole album consists of one single song, which takes you on an epic and emotional journey. The album was greatly received by the underground media which labeled the band as one of the most promising acts in the extreme underground scene.
With autumn 2008, the band faced first internal changes. Dekadent parted ways with their bassist Andrej Bohnec in order to pursue a more extreme and demanding music career. Naur (ex-Sinbolic/Neurotech) joined the remaining quartet as the new bass player. With his immense energy and skill the band stands stronger than ever and are already taking town by town with aggressive performances.
Dekadent saw another line-up change soon afterwards with the leaving of the drummer Andraz, whose shoes were easily filled by Artur's long-time colleague, a young drum-maestro Garghuf (Enthroned/Gorgoroth). Artur and Garghuf entered the studio and began with recording sessions in April 2009 in order to produce a third Dekadent effort. The recording of the third Dekadent album "Venera: Trial & Tribulation" thus continued until mid 2010 with the other team being on a public hiatus. While Artur being busy producing and mixing the new material, Garghuf made a promising career move abroad. In order to let him focus on his current work with Enthroned and Unlocked, Artur hired new members to help Dekadent carry out their music onstage. Typh (ex-Exsilium/Incubation) joined the rest of the crew as the new drummer, while Gajwasz (ex-Sinbolic) took over guitar duties.
Dekadent finally stands complete with their new album to offer. Venera: Trial & Tribulation is the band's strongest and most dynamic album to date. Counting 12 songs of passion and despair, the album is without a doubt to become a favorite one among their fans.
