DeJavu was born in Kingston, Jamaica where he grew up in the communities of Nannyville garden. Spanish town and Portmore. He has had a love for music from a very young age. He began by performing songs by Professor Nuts, Papa San and Ninja Man in his classroom for his friends every chance he could get. At the age of 17, he was introduced to Terrical, the owner of Starforce Sound System, by one of his classmates who lived in the Standpipe area. From there on he began writing his own music under the name Simple Kid and doing dubplates for sound systems in Standpipe and surrounding communities. Through the dubplates used by Starforce Sound System the name Simple Kid began to grow and become known throughout those communities. With that notoriety other deejays wanted to compete with him. Sanchez, the singer, who had a sound called Sexilous in Standpipe held stageshows each Wednesday night and would offer money for the winner. After winning many competitions and gaining street credibility Music Addict, an independent label, decided to sign him as their first artist. Under Music Addict he recorded his first song Some Gal come yah jus fi mash up man heart. Big Head and Hard Ears,

the owners of the label thought that his lyrics and image were too hardcore, rough and grimey for the name Simple Kid. So through the advise of his friends and record label he decided to change his name, but could not come up with the perfect name to fit his personality and style. After searching for the perfect name he had given up and then the name DeJavu appeared on the front page of The Daily Star like an epiphany. At first he didnt think another thing of it until later in the day when he opened the dictionary and said Any name that shows up, Im gonna work with it, and the page he opened to had DeJavu right at the top of the page. From there on he was known as DeJavu. Through Music Addict DeJavu collaborated with Ghost on Walk Foot which was received well by the television and radio media. He also did a solo song and video for Video Light which fans have rated as one of the craziest videos ever done in Jamaica. Around 1999 he met Kiprich and collaborated with him on two tracks called Hot enno and What Would You Do. and then Dejavu began writing different songs for Elephant Man. He wrote songs like, Chiney Thing, Bun Down That and co-wrote Pon di River, Willie Bounce, Juke Gal, Get Low (remix) collaboration with Lil John, Ying Yang Twins and Busta Rhymes and Tek off sumpn by Black-er and many more to be released soon. Then in 2003 he came to the United States from Jamaica, and started touring with Elephant Man and has been out on tour for 3 years. Currently he is in the studio working on his new CD called The Real One.
