DEFORMER



Deformer hails from Rotterdam city, The Netherlands and stood up during the 92/93 Breakbeat / Jungle era.
They were one of the first serious producers in its genre in The Netherlands.
At the time that 'real' Junglists revolted against the new commercial alternative Drum n Bass, Deformer already produced some revolutionary tracks. After appearing on compilations, Deformer broke through by releasing their full length debut: 'Fxecutioners'. Hereby Deformer succeeded to fuse the traditional raw Jungle sound with dark Drum n Bass and already drove a large audience crazy. Track: 'The Possessor' later became a classic. Soon Deformer toured around many parts of the world and released a couple of 12 inches including 'Illy Noiz on Wax vol. 2'.
A hardcore Jungle crossover statement was made when 'Slasher' came out.



The Slasher 12" (2001) is a classic among the experimental Jungle/ Drum n bass heads and was truly ahead of its time. It stayed on hold at the record pressing plant because of the unorthodox sound and drum programming and in some countries the record got soled without the shocking record sleeve. This record led to a collaboration with Slipknot DJ Starscream. The main track 'Slasher' is now considered to be a revolutionary piece of work and with its steady rhythm and typical Rotterdam hardcore sounds, it is now filed under the 'breakcore' sub-genre.
After more records on vinyl, Deformer decided to release a second full-length album: 'Revolution Theory'. (23 tracks!)
This second Deformer album even topped all enthusiasm received on their debut, 'Fxecutioners'. This album tells the unorthodox story of going back to the essence and has a bonus skit before track 1 on the CD when you rewind it.
To promote this album, Deformer released a limited collectors 12" of only 500 copies worldwide. The incredible record sleeve has been designed by Redman Designs and is truly a piece of art. This 12" kicks off with a very original and deep Jungle / Metal crossover: 'Meatcleaver' and introduced people to the Deformer mosh-pit at live shows.
Deformer has won an important award in 2006 for best act in The Netherlands and have released a remix cd entitled 'Ori Ede' the following year. The 'Ori Ede' cd contains two previously unreleased tracks and remixes by Illyg@ll, Eni-Less and Bong-Ra. It gained great recognition in England and Russia.



Recently Deformer has produced an official remix for American rap legends Public Enemy. 'Check what you're listening to' became a unique track, made in the tradition of the recognizable Public Enemy sound with the furious speed of Deformer.



In the summer of 2009 Clash records released a 7 inch vinyl containing an old school Jungle tune 'Roffadub' featuring reggae vocalist Ras 'Delidel Touch' Jorge. And on the B side 'Damien Dub' which is a typical Deformer interpretation on Dubstep.



Deformer recently released two e.p.'s:
'Diabolical' which also contains remixes by 6Blocc, Bong-Ra and Atiq&Enk. This very dark release is pressed on red vinyl. Warning: don't play it backwards.
The second e.p. entitled 'Defsteppah' gives new direction to the Dubstep genre in a raw sence of the word. Heavy breaks and deep dub merge with rowdy Rotterdam hardcore. The track: 'Extreme deformity' is becoming one of the club favorites at this very moment.



A new full length album is expected soon.



Deformer is well known for its musical diversity, Metal, Ragga, Hip Hop, deep Trip Hop and Rave for example, get blended upon a solid base of mostly furious drum patterns.



Their sound is very recognizable because of their raw, jungle orientated drum programming and dark soundscapes. It creates a unique identity and drives people crazy…
