Born in Dakar in 1974, Mohamed Dediouf spent his childhood in Senegal, Europe and the U.S. Although he did not grow up in a musical family, as a boy joined a band with his brothers and started improvising songs and drumming. The lyrics of MC Solar, the first private radios in Dakar and the advent of rap groups all inspired in Moh the desire to write and make contemporary music sung in Wolof.
His passion for thought and philosophy led Moh to study literature in Dakar then Paris. But his urge to understand and interact with the society around him spawned a new direction. Through extensive travel (to the U.S., Germany and Switzerland and beyond) he learned how to maximize resources at hand and interpret cultural differences to make his music widely accessible.
Singer, drummer, percussionist, Moh has worked in many musical combinations (soul acoustic trios, jazz groups, etc.). Self-taught, he brings a fresh approach to each group. He colours Western music with African hues and sings English songs in Wolof, drawing on his roots and memories of music from his childhood.
He released his first solo album, self-produced, in 2007. Acclaimed in the industry, it won first prize for the song "Adouana" in the World Music Category of the US International Songwriting Competition, beating out 15,000 competitors from 100 countries. Songs in French, Wolof and English link Africa and the rest of the world. As an artist and human being, this connection is his philosophy for confronting society's ills.
Enriched by his diverse experiences, he never ceases to reinvent himself. His latest repertoire mixes fresh compositions with new arrangements of old songs. Moh's meeting with Jimi M'Baye, guitarist for Youssou N'Dour's and considered one of the most creative guitarists of his generation, inspired the two men to work together on a project, "Smile Way of Life," in their homeland of Senegal.
The symbol of a new movement, African Artists for the Next Generation, Moh Dediouf always surrounds himself with European and African artists to forge pathways between Africa and the rest of the world. For Moh, it's through his music that the real Africa will burst onto the world stage.

Né à Dakar en 1974, Mohamed Diouf passe son enfance entre le Sénégal, l'Europe et les Etats-Unis. De son environnement familial, rien ne le prédestiné à devenir musicien ; pourtant déjà petit, il s'improvise chanteur-batteur dans un orchestre avec ses frères.
L'influence des textes de MC Solar, l'avènement des premières radios privées à Dakar et la formation de groupes de rap déclenchent chez Moh - Dediouf le désir d'écrire et de faire de la musique moderne en chantant en wolof.



Passionné de dialectique et philosophie, il suit des études de littérature à Dakar puis à Paris. Mais sa volonté de comprendre et d'interagir avec la société qui l'entoure, l'oriente vers de nouveaux horizons. De par ses nombreux voyages (USA, Allemagne, Suisse…), il a su se saisir des ressources et déchiffrer les clivages culturels entre les populations pour rendre son art accessible au plus grand nombre.



Chanteur, batteur ou encore percussionniste, Moh Dediouf a participé à plusieurs formations (trio acoustique soul, groupe de jazz…).
Autodidacte, il a su apporter à chaque nouveau groupe une approche de jeu différente. Il colore la musique occidentale de teintes africaines et interprète en wolof des chansons anglophones, en puisant dans ses racines les souvenirs des musiques de son enfance.



Son premier album solo auto-produit sort en 2007. Il obtient la reconnaissance des professionnels du secteur et gagne le premier prix du « International Songwriting Competition » aux USA parmi plus de 15 000 titres et 100 pays représentés. Yannick Noa, François Rivollet et d'autres artistes collaborent à cet album. Les chansons écrites en français, wolof et anglais sont le liant entre l'Afrique et le reste du monde. Comme une solution face aux abus de la société, Moh-Dediouf propose son idéologie d'artiste et d'être humain.



Riche d'un parcours éclectique, il ne cesse de se renouveler. Aujourd'hui il propose un nouveau répertoire mêlant ses anciens titres réarrangés et nouvelles compositions. La rencontre avec Jimi M'Baye, guitariste de Youssou N'Dour, considéré comme l'un des guitaristes les plus créatifs de sa génération, a fait naître entre les deux hommes le désir de travailler ensemble dans leur pays de cœur, le Sénégal.



Symbole du nouveau mouvement African Artists For Next Generation, Moh Dediouf à toujours voulu s'entourer d'artistes européens et africains pour créer une passerelle entre l'Afrique et le reste du monde. Il reste persuadé que c'est en musique qu'il fera éclater à la face du monde la réalité de l'Afrique.
