In today's TV shows presenters are casting new pop idols or search for the next top model. B-list celebrities eat maggots in the jungle. Entertainment culture spirals downward. But there is relief! DEBAUCHERY's new output "Germany's Next Death Metal" is a middle finger to the mass media.
Thomas Gurrath – this man has always been a man for headlines. Gory cover artworks, stripping bloodsoaked women on stage, porn video clips. Blood and tits – this is the obvious concept behind Germany's death metal groove machine no. 1. But last year Thomas gained even more publicity in the newspapers as he, student teacher at that time, was forbidden to teach because of his musical preferences and image. Since then there is only one thing left for the DEBAUCHERY mastermind: his music.
So it's no wonder that the bald workaholic finished a new album again. And it's also for sure that there is no such thing like creative deadlock for him and for
DEBAUCHERY. Those who know the last albums know: Gurrath is not only a death metal fan but also a big admirer of AC/DC. A passion inspiring not only
his band Big Ball. DEBAUCHERY evokes the spirit of mangy hard rock too, but in the most possible brutal way. "Germany's Next Death Metal" is the result of
full-time work and total devotion on the one hand. And it is also the work of a more mature musician. DEBAUCHERY have never been that "typical" death
metal band. Although mastermind Thomas Gurrath has always used aggressive elements and brutal appearance the biggest difference to most
bands of that genre is: they groove like hell! In the last years this band created their very own sound, driven by their eagerness to experiment and strict consequence. Or described by the press: "Many bands are labelled to be 'Death'n'Roll' but there is only one band that actually plays it: DEBAUCHERY!"
(Stormbringer) or "Obviously Debauchery found the ultimate, lethal mix!" (Rock Hard).
DEBAUCHERY was founded in 2002 by Thomas as a solo project. Nowadays, six albums later, it is impossible to imagine the death metal scene without that
band. And ever since „Torture Pit" (2006) DEBAUCHERY is cult – the best German death metal record 2006 (Rock Hard). A standing they easily
cemented with „Back in Blood" (2007), „Continue To Kill" (2008) and „Rockers And War" (2009). On tour with legends like Six Feet Under, Napalm Death or
Destruction DEBAUCHERY could not only gain a huge fanbase but also the respect of their idols.
Now the seventh output "Germany's Next Death Metal" is ready and DEBAUCHERYs very own interpretation of Death'n'Roll is perfected. While the opener "The Unbroken" builds a connection to the previous record with grungy hard rock drive, "Warmachines At War" could be taken from one of the early DEBAUCHERY records. "Bloodslaughter Onslaught" and "Death Will Entertain" turn out to be really thrashy and songs like "Zombie Blitzkrieg", "Killing Is Our Culture" and the title track just rock like hell.
On "Germany's Next Death Metal" DEBAUCHERY sound varied like never before and trump not only with massive groove and brutality but also with big
balls!
