DEATHMASK New York’s deadliest rock band spins dark tales around lounge and rock sounds. The result is alarmingly sweet - you’ll dance right into the light!

In 2002, boy band sensations Mike Biskup and Boris Veysman summoned the souls of singer, Katy Cunningham and drummer, Steve Dans. The séance yielded heat and rock.

Deathmask has been haunting New York night Life ever since. There have been deathmask sightings at world famous clubs such as Arlene’s Grocery and The Knitting Factory. Some say they even caught a glimpse of the band on stage at the legendary Continental during its last week in the live music business.

Others have claimed to have had near deathmask experiences across the Hudson at Kroghs and The Stanhope House; and throughout the Northeast including Philly, Boston, and Cape Cod. They rocked new fans on their Road To Wonderful Tour from Georgia’s Willow Oak Festival all the way to The Elbo Room in Chicago.

Deathmask’s first full length album, Evil Doers, was recorded and produced by deathmask and Kenny Cummings (Aretha Franklin, Elvis Costello, Midnight Oil, Shelby), and mixed by Tom Dekorte (Fat Joe, Luna). Both Kenny and Tom helped to capture the feel of deathmask’s powerful live shows in the studio. Fred Kevorkian (Dave Mathews Band, White Stripes) mastered the album at Avatar Studios.

The band’s second album Wonderful ( released March 7, 2008 at Fontanas in Manhattan) has all of the heart and heat of Evil Doers, but it adds a little more lift and light. Serenades "Carl Pavano 2: I’ll see you in heaven" and "Carl Pavano 3: I’ll see you in heaven" imagine a happy-ever afterlife with the Yankees’ hard luck pitcher. Most of the songs’ stories, however, are told from multiple points of view - dialogues between unlikely lovers, fighters, and strangers.

Out Of Breath, by Viewer Discretion Films, featuring deathmask’s “Boat,” was the winner of Best Musical Score in the 2006 New York City 48 Hour Film Festival. Deathmask’s music was also selected for inclusion on the Original Sessions Buzz Band Search Volume 3 compilation. The band has been working with Rock N Reel Productions to produce music videos and a deathmask documentary.

Deathmask is already hard at work on even newer songs, well-prepared to rock its beloved following into the next century. Jeremy Grand of Perpetual Toxins Magazine says that deathmask will drag, “the music world out of the grave and into the ballroom.”
