Deanna Dixon was born with music in her heart and a song on her lips. While most people have to study and learn a skill, Deannas gift was inherited through her strong roots in the church. As the middle child of one of the greatest family dynasties, it just runs in her blood. Just recently scratching the surface of her musical abilities she continues to maintain the soul sound that she attained in the church. Following behind the footsteps of her mother who she watched direct, lead, and sing in the church choir during the prime of her youth, she developed her own musical abilities writing, arranging, and recording her own music. She recorded her first song at the age of 16 titled I get excited a song recapping her journey back to God. That experience paved the beginning of a career that she continues to build with a determination that sets her aside from the rest.



At the age of 18, fresh out of high school Deanna was scouted by Mitchell Jones, a member of a renown gospel group named Commissioned and inducted to sing background for his first solo album. She continued to travel back and forth from Indianapolis to Detroit for a year while pursuing her own career in the industry. At that moment in her life she didnt realize what other dreams she would be accomplishing in her future. Winning local talent shows, appearing in season 5 American Idol and competing on Showtime at the Apollo was accomplishments she never dreamed she would conquer. Her appearance on American Idol opened many doors and has paved the way for her pursuits of becoming a soul singer. Amongst all she plans to enter the industry head strong with the morals that she attained as a child. Mostly, she plans to influence the industries perspective of beauty and Americas misconception about what is sexy. Her music speaks of the insecurities of many and pain that weve all experienced. As a full sized women that appreciates her curves, she will show America that music is not all about unrealistic images, but about the true meaning of soul.
