Dead Weight began as a side project comprised of ex and current members of All Hell Breaks Loose, 24 Hours to Live, Target Nevada, and Dance Floor Justice. After a slight lineup change, a well recieved demo and mulitple local shows, DW recorded their first full length in January of 2006 titled "We've Seen Better Days" (release date 6/06/06). The objective of this band is to prove that hardcore is still alive and the music still takes precedence over the image, gimmick, or anything else. Dead Weight is here to have fun, enjoy ourselves, and get people into hardcore for the same reasons we're into it.

"a 12 song full-length that instills the fear of pit-driven beatdowns and unyielding lyrical invectives.between the bulldozing guitars and quake-worthy percussion, Dead Weight's growling vocalist clobbers bands with no message in their music. We've Seen Better Days is as heavy as a bank vault and the band's musicianship and topical focus is just as solid. The metallic hardcore sound of years past hasn't sounded this good in quite some time." - pastepunk.com

"with such burly vocals, punishing power chords, and forceful breakdowns within their massive onslaught of crushing metallic hardcore, one might suspect that this is somewhat of a toughguy sort of band or something along those lines, but nothing could be further from the truth.their lyrical message - while furious and at times blunt - tends to fuse straightforward anger with calls to bring the message back into the music with regards to the hardcore scene, even utilizing occasional socio-political overtones.I'm definitely digging this shit. I haven't heard but so much of this form of 90's-ish metalcore as of late, so this one certainly hits the spot." - Aversionline.com
