OXFORD, Miss. -- One of the Top 5 touring acts from Mississippi over the past four years, Daybreakdown is gearing up for the release of their sophomore album "Shine Like Rust" (2007 Dirt Road Records) produced by Cary Hudson and Winn McElroy at Black Wings Productions, formerly known as the legendary Fat Possum Studio.

Guest appearances on the record include Cary Hudson of Blue Mountain on guitar and songwriting, JT Lack, Kevin Larkin and Chris Steiner of the Mayhem String Band on Stings and songwriting, and Gin Gin Abraham on vocals.

"Shine Like Rust" picks up where "Make Me Wiser" left off, but shows a versatility on the part of the band that has not been seen before. Stronger lyrics and greater instrumental control show the progression of a band that has spent the better half of the past four years touring from Colorado to the Carolinas. Perhaps the most obvious difference from "Make Me Wiser" to "Shine Like Rust" is Daybreakdown's understanding of the music and artists from their home state of Mississippi, and their efforts to incorporate several different aspects of Southern music into their signature sound. Known by most of their friends as a band caught somewhere between indie rock, roots rock and Southern rock, Daybreakdown has tackled such alternative genres as blues, country, folk and bluegrass here on "Shine Like Rust," and done so with an all-too-convincing delivery.

Daybreakdown's debut record, Make Me Wiser has also brought them a fair share of notoriety. Selling over 6,000 records on the road and through their website since its release in January of 2005, Wiser has provided a solid following from Europe to the States, and features such fan-favorites as "Naked," "The Ante," "Make Me Wiser," "Blue Tomorrow" and the epic instrumental "Dirty Sanford." In the Spring of 2005, Daybreakdown was also named the "Most Promising Southern Rock Band in the U.S." by Honest Tune Magazine's Readers Poll.

Fans of such Southern musical icons as the Allman Brothers, Little Feat, The Band, The Black Crowes or Drivin' N' Cryin' can all find something here on "Shine Like Rust" that keeps them tuned in and turned on.

Daybreakdown is gearing up to tour not only in support of "Shine Like Rust," but also to be apart of this year's Honest Tune Magazine Southern Rock Revival Series along with Outformation, Old Union, Shady Deal and Speakeasy, as well as other popular up-and-coming Southern Rock bands.
