The Dave McMurray Band Live at The Detroit International Jazz Festival 9/6/10 - "On Detroit Time" - Video
PUBLISHED:  Sep 19, 2010
DESCRIPTION:
Performing "On Detroit Time" on the Mack Avenue Records Pyramid Stage.

Saxophonist Dave McMurray has drawn comparisons to Grover Washington Jr., one of the most popular saxophonists of all time. While a fine compliment, it misses the point: this Detroit native has a sound that is truly his own. Considered one of the finest avant-garde saxophonists during his heyday with Griot Galaxy (in the 1980s), McMurray has also shown a special talent for genre-crossing. He has worked with a diverse range of artists, including Bob James, KEM, Kid Rock, Bob Dylan, Bonnie Raitt, Geri Allen, The Rolling Stones, Gladys Knight and Bootsie Collins. He debuted as a leader in 1995 with The Dave McMurray Show. His latest release, My Brother and Me: The Best of Dave McMurray, is a compilation of the three subsequent albums he recorded for HipBop Records.
