Dark Lunacy

Dark Lunacy is a Dramatic Death Metal band with some Melodic Gothic influences, from Parma (Italy). The band formed at the beginning of 1997 when Mike, the singer, met and the guitarist, Enomys. After recording a self-produced Lp titled Silent Storm, they were able to obtain a huge consent from the audiance. During the spring of '99, the group published a demo, Serenity composed of 4 tracks in which, a real string quartet, indicates what will be the sound of the band. In 2000, the group signed an agreement with a well-known label and releases its first official album: Devoid, in November. Not much after the release of the first album, the band gained good reviews and, thanks to the two single tracks ?Dolls? (of which is even produced a video) and ?Forlon?, the Dark Lunacy entered the playlist of many radios and metal clubs.
Mike to explain the kind of music of its band, uses to define it "Dramatic Death Metal". Which indicates that the band has various influences, but that their works are all directed toward gothic and decadent atmospheres. Everything is empathized by the support of a string quartet, included in almost every song. In plain words, Dark Lunacy music originates with melodic death riffs, upon it, lays a mix of strings and piano arrangement which is typical of classical music, together with feminine chorus taking back to more Gothic atmosphere. Maybe it's this fusion of styles what granted to the band this great international success, expecially after the release of The Diarist (concept album about the 900 days siege of Leningrad) which drove the Dark Lunacy over the top, notably in Russia and Mexico.
