Danielle Cales

Danielle Cales has a lifelong musical heritage though a relatively young musical career. Danielle’s father, Freddy Cales, was a blues man. Which meant Danielle grew up amidst long hours of loud practice, passion that didn’t really pay the bills, and the mild taste of accomplishment of a well played local gig.
Danielle has since matured as a live performer by frequenting open mics around Chicagoland. After earning her performing stripes and honing her song writing skills amongst the coffee shop crowd, she then graduated to live venues and music festivals.
She opened for Donald Kinsey in 2008 and was selected by Gap to help promote the launch of their 1969 jeans in 2009. She was also invited to PLAY STL in downtown St. Louis where she gave a typically charming performance at the legendary Vintage Vinyl . In 2010 she finished in the top 10 for the Indianapolis area talent search for Lilith Fair and has begun playing a larger role in her songwriter husband’s band – The Energy Commission. Playing with Jay Weinberg she has appeared on NBC and ABC news in Chicago and even snuck into a clip on Good Morning America.
Her first music video for her song – “Save Yourself” gained over 1,700 views in it’s first two months online and she is currently working on a subsequent video for a new song titled “There Goes My…”.
Song writing and harmony are Danielle’s strength. Her sense of melody is magically married to her words – lyrics that are sophisticated yet inviting. Danielle takes listeners on a journey of her experience as she modestly strums her guitar letting her songs captivate the rowdiest of audiences.
So she has found herself in some of the same sticky gigs she remembers from her childhood – only now she’s on the other side of the stage. She takes with her the dedication and drive she saw in her father. To every show, large or small, Danielle Cales bares her soul.
