(( ABOUT ))
.Dajla/3rd album : My LOve Life
After her French and African experience (« Soul Poetry », 2007, « the Meaning of Life », 2009) Dajla has now settled in London to record her 3rd album, « My Love Life". Recorded at the Fish Factory Studios, known for its vintage and homely atmosphere, (Joss Stone, Terry Callier, Bilal and many more…), «My Love Life » is a blend of Classic Soul music and Reggae inspired melodies.
A breath of fresh air. A claim for optimism and hope. In a world where darkness seems to be the focus of attention, Dajla brings a message of love and light, sought by many.
Dajla's music is deliciously sophisticated yet focused on the bare essentials : clear writing, subtle arrangements. An organic soul in the wake of Al Green or Bob Marley's first albums, or the soul songtsress Minnie Ripperton.
This album is dedicated to LOVE ! Love for life, and for our friends. Love for the planet, Love for the Creation.
SINCE 2005 DAJLA HAS SHARED THE STAGE WITH/ OPENED FOR :
AMP FIDDLER, THE BRAND NEW HEAVIES, NNEKA, MANU DIBANGO, MC SOLAAR, DE LA SOUL, JOY DENALANE , HOCUS POCUS, ANGELO MOORE', ALLONYMOUS, YARAH BRAVO & DJ VADIM, WAX TAILOR, THE PROCUSSIONS,, THE FOREIGN BEGGARS, TRIBEQA & MAGIC MALIK, SANDRA NKAKE, BEAT TORRENT, GENERAL ELECTRIKS, ANTHONY JOSEPH and many more.

(( BIOGRAPHY ))
DAJLA is the Arabic translation of River TIGRIS, the legendary Mesopotamian river, soul sister of River Euphrates. Dajla is like this river: her spirit runs free and strong amongst the land of MUSIC. Also born under the sign of the Tiger, her totem animal, she has lived a thousand lives and fought many battles.
DAJLA is a lead singer, songwriter, pianist and bassplayer. A globe-trotter at heart and Universal citizen, she spent most of her life travelling and soul searching.
DAJLA grew up in the West coast of France, raised by a soul-and Rythmn 'n Blues loving dad originally from Tunisia, and a French American rock loving mum in the midst of the cool 1970's. She started playing jazz and classical piano at the age of 6 at the local music college and graduated 10 years later. In 1992, she picks up the bass to impress her first love, Skant, from Ska band Verska Vis.Skant introduces her to Fishbone and Destiny cared for the rest.in 1992 she bumps into Angelo Moore @ a summer festival and he offers the young girl to follow the band on the road. That would mark the beginning of a long collaboration with the LA singer and influence her musical and vocal choices for the years to come. After Skant's accidental and odd death she flees for London where she works in a ska shop in Carnaby street while playing with different ska and rock bands. She then goes back and forth between Paris and London for a few years without really finding her place but ends up meeting producer/multi skilled musician Benji Blow in France in 2004.
Benji, one-if not THE most influential and talented French hip hop producers/beatmakers of his generation (often compared to the late J Dilla) has been contributing to the emergence of an acoustic/live hip hop scene in France for the past ten years through his various bands (Sumerian Atlantic Tribe, Carré Magik, Tribeqa). His skills are limitless, for not only has he produced numerous tracks and remixes, but he is also an amazing drummer, a skilled guitarist, and a keyboard player. It is no wonder the chemistry between them two instantly came : the perfect balance between drums and bass, songwriting/ producing, Spirit and Matter.
DAJLA 's debut album "Soul Poetry"(best Album of the year 2006 -Groove magazine) was written and produced with partner Benji Blow and released in May 2006. The single "Remember Me" was an instant hit and was synchronized in 2008 on a US DOVE Chocolate© commercial.
But DAJLA only has a quest in mind : finding the true purpose of her Life. She found it in September 2007 during an initiatic trip to Gabon, Africa, when French-Gabonese dance director Herwann Asseh hired the young woman and her partner to write the music score for his solo show.
She fell in love with the country and went back to Libreville to get initiated to the local voodoo cult called "BWITI" with sacred shamanic plant IBOGA.
This experience led to her next EP "The Meaning of Life" (2008) ("lethal and all encompassing" Worldsound) and her 2nd studio album "The Meaning of Life" (2009)
Dajla and Benji are currently living in London, collaborating with the freshest producers and musicians and working on their 3rd album, "My LOve Life" (release 2012)
