Ctrl Z Biography.

The Early Years.

Tommy Dash and Nicky ‘Inch’ D’Silva, met through the Community Music Program in London. The pairing up of these two DJs by their tutor was to be the start of something special and Ctrl Z's first production was unleashed.

They have over 50 releases and remixes under their belts on respected labels such as Against the Grain, Lot49, Botchit & Scarper, Passenger, Functional, Rat Records and Hardcore Beats. It is no surprise that after only a year in the business, Ctrl Z had the honor of receiving two nominations for Best Breakthrough Act and Best Breakthrough Producer at the 2005 Breakspoll Awards.

Dash & Inch continued to receive praise and support from some of the biggest players in the scene, remixing and working alongside stalwarts such as The Freestylers, Tayo, Atomic Hooligan, Dreadzone and Dylan Rhymes amongst others.

Headlining events all over the world, their DJ sets have to be seen to be believed. Ctrl Z were the first Breaks act to be signed exclusively to the renowned Echo Location Agency where they were given the honor of supporting Pendulum their first ever live tour. In 2007 they were one of the main drawcards in Annie Nightingale’s Tent on the Opening night of the infamous Glastonbury festival and became residents at the legendary End club for DJ Friction's Shogun Audio Night.

2008 saw Tommy Dash form the Stereo:Type project with Chris Screwface, and Inch form the Pyramid Project with Ken Mac. Stereo:Type's 5 Deck album tour has sent them on a journey through Gatecrasher Residencies & Snow Festivals to Skate Jams and Headline Ibiza Slots, while Pyramid have continued to smash out their unique 140bpm jungle sounds on Funkatech Records.

In the shadows, Ctrl Z has been waiting patiently for a resurgence

2010 and BeyondNever Say Die

Always looking to take things to the next level, Tommy Dash & long time friend Nick Demus have started their own label as an outlet for the ever changing and uncompromising Ctrl Z sound: 'Never Say Die Records'. Launching the imprint with the much sought after collaboration with the Freestylers ‘Ruffneck 09’, the label is already making waves, with releases and remixes from artists such as Foreign Beggars, Reso, Excision & Datsik and of course the boys themselves.

Summer 2010 sees the release of the biggest tune to emerge from the Ctrl Z studios, their monstrous remix of the Freestylers track 'Cracks'. Catching the attention of djs as diverse as the Stanton Warriors and Trolley Snatcha, this record is a defining moment in the boys' career and signals the dawn of a new sound.

Catch Ctrl Z in 2010 and experience the sound of Never Say Die.
