DISSIZIT Mixtape volume 1 & 2

By Frank the Butcher

If you are not familiar with DISSIZIT! and have been out of your drug induced coma for more than a year, you need to be slapped in your face with a pillow case full of used "C" batteries. The Slick and Danny Boy that have been delivering the sickest in street wear with the DISSIZIT! brand have now poked us in the vein with their newest project, DISSIZIT! Recordings. The first drops of the newly formed music arm of the clothing brand are "DISSIZIT Mixtapes volume 1 & 2" .

Volume one is executive produced by the La Coka Nostra general Danny Boy and is mixed by the "Decibel Devil" Dj Crook. Slick grabs the executive roll on Volume two while Phoreyz mans the tables. Just when I thought the art of "the mixtape" was forever lost, Crook and Phoreyz literally mix molotov cocktails that seamlessly blend so many genres and eras of music that every listener is guaranteed to catch a favorite and be introduced to something new all at the same time. Real talk.

So, you would think giving you 2 of the illest mixtapes mixed by 2 of sickest Djs this side of the equator would be enough for your greedy asses. Nope. What if I told you volume one is accompanied by a limited DISSIZIT! x LCN tee shirt? Ok, what if I said that volume two happen to come with a limited DISSIZIT! x Phoreyz x Dez Einswell collaboration tee? You would probably look at me cross eyed. Well, fix your face because its true!! DISSIZIT what!!

DJ Crook

Studio-50-Fever:

10 Out-of-Sight Grooves from 1977-1981

(K-Hel)

Crook, the Dj for this issue's cover stars Team

Sleep, is far from your run of the mill wicky-wicky

band jock. He's a true-blue DJ pimp in his home-

town of Sacramento, CA, rocking clubs all over town

including hot Thursday night weekly at the Monkey

Bar. For this disco fabulous outing, he digs deep into

the golden age and unearths a cheeky mix of classic

jams you may have forgotten, like his killer opening

selection of ELO's "Shine A Little More Love." From

there Crook charges into Giorgio Moroder's signature

"The Chase" which drops down into Quartz' timeless

"Beyond the Clouds". Filling out the mix with Donna

Summer standards, Rufus and a couple particularly

obscure nuggets, he nails the ending with Herbie

Mann's extra-funky "Superman". Pl
