CRIS PROLIFIC has been living with music at an early age, thanks to his parents who were really into it, not as musicians but as passionates of all genres and especially the 70's which is the most influential period in his music. His older brother who is a bass player also steered him into music and especially into hip-hop and since the age of 6 he's been gravitating into this movement brought by DJ KOOL HERC and AFRIKA BAMBAATAA. He has collaborated with a lot french rappers such as DUNE, LUNATIC, X-MEN, ROCCA, ARSENIC KERY JAMES and others which are considered among the bests in France and still preparing new releases for 45 SCIENTIFIC fellows artists. His first international collaboration took place when he had the chance to remix one of the most talented hip-hop live band called THE ROOTS with their hit single track 'YOU GOT ME' with ERYKAH BADU. He then remixed the track 'CAN YOU DEAL WITH THAT?' of I-CUBE with RZA the founder of the "WU TANG CLAN" and also among the best producers of all time (pick it up !) He has released a 12" on VERSATILE RECORDS, called 'PEOPLE' featuring TA'RAACH aka LACKS from the D ! and folk soul singer AYO from Germany. Opened to different music genres and as a musician he always considered that all kinds of music have to be explored as far as you see your interest in it. So his next step remix was for a world reknown traditionnal singer from Cabo Verde, CESARIA EVORA on a song called 'NEGUE' (thx GILB'R !!) and it means a lot cause some of his ancesters came from there. "It was really interesting to bring something out of my craft and a real challenge, I'm glad that people appreciated it cause it was really a moving experience." Recently remixed hip hop heads MR.COMPLEX & PHAROAHE MONCH for the track 'SCREAMS AND SHOUTS' which will be realeased soon ! Furthermore, he's part of a band called KEMIT SOURCES, which makes a parallel between african rythms and creole roots sounds (Gwo-ka) with an electronic touch. They have released several 12" since 2003 on VERSATILE RECORDS, ISMA'A records and more recently working with a label called Deeper Soul Records ( www.deepersoulrecs.com ) which is based in Chicago. Check out their last collaboration with a reknown jazz legend activist KAHIL EL ZABAR (ART ENSEMBLE OF CHICAGO) with IG.CULTURE remix. CRIS PROLIFIC loves the arts cause of their spontaneity, 'It reveals who you are and your sincerity and while you keep evolving you discover and adding new facets to your identity.' CRIS PROLIFIC is preparing his first international full length hip-hop album with a tracklist that will surprises some of you. but you'll soon be posted. This album is associated to exhibitions and is a multidisciplinary project involving among others JEROME LAGARRIGUE, a franco-american painter (www.jeromelaguarrigue.com) TIM OKAMURA, a canadian painter (www.timokamura.com) and TROY GILBERT, an american author/poet from Washington DC who has published a remarkable book called 'UPTOWN YELLOW' which is a novel of fiction written in poetic verses ( get it !!).
