Cortez

Perhaps you've heard Neil Young's song "Cortez the Killer", or perhaps not. Either way, that song title is as succinct a description of the band Cortez from Boston, MA as there is. Formed in 2006 by refugees from several heavy hitters in the local scene, Cortez was brought together by the forces of the universe to do one thing: play heavy ass rock music. That's it. Rock or go home. They chose the former. Quickly releasing a debut album, "Thunder in a Forgotten Town", on Buzzville Records, Cortez headed overseas for some shows, spreading their name and setting out on their mission to rock those who sought out the good stuff. After various changes in the lead vocalist slot, Cortez found their main man in the form of one Matt (no last name needed). Now the final piece of the puzzle was truly in place and Cortez could continue on their path. Writing and recording such new classics as "Johnny" and "Until We Die", Cortez honed their sound with live performances and solidified their place in the world of underground heavy rock, the new material simultaneously swinging and crushing with hooks for days These aren't just songs, they are war cries and proclamations, letting the world know that Cortez means business and will not stop until their quest for the perfect riff or catchiest chorus is attained. Take cover or not, it doesn't really matter. It's already too late.
