DESCRIPTION:
Hommage to the great Southern Catholic writer Flannery O'Connor, this piece, originally for full orchestra, centers on the drowning scene in the novel by the same name. The two-piano version was written for Peter Serkin, Emanuel Ax and the Cornell University Chorus directed and conducted by Susan Davenny Wyner. The premiere was given in October 1990 on the Distinguished Artists Series, The Music of Christine Berl, at the 92nd Street Y in New York.
