Contest of Arms brings a refreshing new wind to sails of Florida's music scene. It becomes difficult to pin down the sound of a band with such a diverse set of songs. One of the band's founding members, Paul (Bass) said "We just write whatever comes to our minds, we don't limit ourselves by setting out in one direction." And this trend is clearly evident from track to track on Contest Of Arms self titled full length album. Fans of all types of music can enjoy the diversity presented in Contest's music. If you like to sing along with melodic lyrical hooks catchier than the flu, songs like Sheen on the Rocks and Prom Night Sacrifice are right up your alley. However you might be in the mood to jump in a circle pit, and COA does not leave you hanging. Songs like If Girls Were Bogies I'd Be A Top Gun, and Sharp is Safe, Dull is Dangerous stand up for themselves in even the most brutal situations. Sold out crowds across Florida can attest to yet another aspect of COA, the live show. "We pride ourselves on being able to deliver a breathtaking stage performance without sacrificing any of our sound.", states guitarist Jon. Not many bands have it easy in the music industry and COA is no exception to this fact. Multiple lineup changes, and dealings with people out only for themselves have without a doubt left their mark on the band, however COA just seems to come out of every situation a little bit stronger. COA drummer Steve says, "I think our fans have been the single greatest part of everything we are doing." Without the undying support of them, These last three years would have been much more difficult. Even with a full length self released album under their belt, Contest of Arms has no plans of slowing down. By the end of the year they plan to have another EP recorded and a tour schedule for 2009. Don't take your ears off Contest of Arms, because there are many more things to come out of this Florida based band this year.
