BIO

Cohen & the Ghost formed in April 2007 by founding members Andre' Dantin, Corie Ledet, and Cohen Hartman. Since then, the band has featured many musicians from different areas of Louisiana, and at one point included ten members total.

After almost nine months of sporadic recording, the band released their first album in February 2008, Paper Moon. The album was not only a local success, but also sold well to fans in several countries and all across the US. Still unsigned, C&tG pushed hard to promote the album themselves, playing shows constantly in many LA cities. The lineup of members differed from show to show, but they always found themselves drawing large crowds. Since Paper Moon was received so well, the band embarked on an album tour in the summer of 2008 to reach more listeners.

The tour was also successful, gaining positive reviews from music critics in many cities. C&tG is currently recording two new albums, Monsters & Handshakes, the earlier which is set to release Nov. 13th of 2009.

REVIEWS

"Beyond the many instruments, Cohen and the Ghost's music is defined by dynamics, an ancient but effective composition technique that consists of loud and soft contrast, crescendos and decrescendos."John Wirt, THE ADVOCATE

"Cohen and the Ghost has become one of the city's most recognizable bands, with a hybrid of chilling maturity and lyrical ambition all their own." -Artdaily.org

"Cohen and the Ghost is always bringing down the house with their originality."

-George Monson, TIGER WEEKLY

"When I first popped in Paper Moon, I had to check that this was a local CD, because rarely do I hear local singer-songwriters sound this complete on record." -Alex V. Cook, 225 MAGAZINE

"Very rarely do you find musical maturity in the debut album (Paper Moon) of a local band.the plan for Monsters and Handshakes is incredibly ambitious." - Samantha Morgan, THE ADVOCATE

"8/10.rock blues reality check.delivered by musicians that know what they're doing. The story being told here is chilling and distant and also very, very close to each and every person.touching brilliance. (In regards to 2008's PAPER MOON)"-www.livingatheist.com

"Cohen belongs to a new breed of songwriters like Andrew Bird and M. Ward, where the sparse sonics are as important as the expressive vocals. It’s hard to believe a record this good is by a hometown kid this young."- Alex V. Cook, 225 MAGAZINE
