What is Clone Cycle? As far as most of the world knows, an insurance agent, a flooring specialist, a real estate agent, and a motor sports salesman. Yeh, no kidding. But when the clock strikes midnight, out comes the noisemakers, cowboy hat and bowling shoes that transforms this bunch into the high-energy hard rock explosion dubbed “Clone Cycle”. Kinda like a superhero. Well, maybe not heroes but I am sticking with the “super” part.

Clone Cycle is what every band on the planet wants and claims to be….different. Not just a different kind of band, but a band made of very different people with different influences which prides itself in drawing in all the different influences to make a unique mix of sound and song. Every song sounds different. So much so, the album can fool you into thinking your listening to a compilation of original bands. That is the main reason the peeps keep comin to the shows and the band is on the music industry’s radar. Clone Cycle is high-energy rock with hints of hip-hop, funk, redneck, ragin’ rhythms, four distinct vocals, and enough melody to get your girl to the show (although she may not leave with you). You may also hear a chant from the long time fans in the crowd sounding something like “fat b”. You will have to ask a fan what it means, but may not get the same answer twice. The letters F.A.T.B. originally meant “fuck all the bullshit” or it’s time to start the show and rock your ass off like never before, but it has kind of taken on it’s own life with many different interpretations and inspired a fat b song.

The band was formed in 2002 in its current form. From the beginning, “dedication” has been the word. Practicing a minimum of twice per week with the help of Redbull, vodka and pellet gun war-games. Writing over 30 originals and refining the skills along the way. From the time Clone Cycle had ten songs they have been playing regular gigs, competing in B.O.B.s, and opening for national acts such as Mushroomhead, Crossfade, and Stuck Mojo all over the Carolinas. All for chump change and little respect but working toward world domination. Clone Cycle has a full-length, 14 song, album titled “Cycological” that is a result of three studio sessions over ~3 yr period. You can get a taste at www.myspace.com/clonecycle and if you like what you hear you can download the tracks or the whole album at www.burnlounge.com/undertoe (there is a link to it on myspace). Some of the bands proudest moments came from winning the southeastern division Hawaiian Tropic battle of the bands, writing a theme song for the Stuntin Inc. motorcycle stunt team, and writing a soundtrack for martial arts movie that ran out of funding and never finished filming. The soundtrack from the “still pending” movie project, however, is what got Clone Cycle noticed by a talent scout working for a New York music management firm that has represented top artists for 30 yrs. Reps from the firm attended a live show and offered the band a management contract before the equipment was off the stage. Now, nearly all the major labels out of NY know about Clone Cycle. Recent turmoil in the industry has slowed down the signing process but the band has been almost assured a deal in the next few months from a major US label. If not, a major European label has been waving a contract for the past few months. It is nice to feel loved. The band will soon be in the studio with a hotshot producer and studio engineer to try and capture the essence of Clone Cycle, however revolting that may be. The band is excited about the future recordings because they feel the studio recordings so far have not captured the energy and power that the live show brings.

Although it has been a long, beat up, road so far, Clone Cycle sees the light now. The one weakness of the band has been self-promotion. Clone Cycle has spent its time writing and polishing the live show, which has left little time for promotion. Word of mouth has served them well and gained fans all over the country. The band has made new fans at every show but has not reached the masses they feel they should have. That is why they feel so fortunate to have gotten pasted under the noses of some very big people in the industry. Clone Cycle is gearing up for the ride of a lifetime and is going to bring something fresh to the headbangers worldwide. So check them out live while you can still get in the door for $5.
