Clack Mountain String Band captures the rich and vibrant musical traditions of east Kentucky. The band is vastly influenced by the mountains and rolling hills of east Kentucky, as well as the living masters of Kentucky music like Lee Sexton, George Gibson, Paul David Smith, John Harrod, Roger Cooper and many others who are passing on the music of our mountain fore fathers to a new generation. Based in Morehead, KY, CMSB reflects the diverse and exciting old-time mountain music scene in east Kentucky.

Clack Mountain String Band is comprised of Karly Dawn Higgins, guitar & vocal; Jesse Wells, fiddle; and Brett Ratliff, banjo & vocal. Members of the Clack Mountain String Band have been featured at such events as: The Festival of American Fiddle Tunes (Port Townsend, WA), Sore Fingers Week (Oxfordshire, England), Cowan Creek Mountain Music School (Whitesburg, KY), Celtic Connections (Glasgow, Scotland), BlackPot Festival (Lafayette, LA), Old Town School of Folk Music's Trad Fest (Chicago, IL), Clack Mountain Music Festival (Morehead, KY), White Oak Mountain Bluegrass Festival (Cleveland, TN), Great Lakes Folk Festival (East Lansing, MI) and many others.
