Sadmafioso

Sad Mafioso (Jean-Philippe Chartrand) was born in the cold canadian winter in 1984. Raised in Montreal, Canada, that’s where he first got in touch with music. At a very young age he started experimenting with his 4-tracks recorder, guitars and drums. At the age of 16 he started producing cutting edge electronic music, influenced by artists such as, Aphex Twin, Vitalic, Nathan Fake, Alec Empire, Radiohead and Pink Floyd, he had his first band in which he played drums and keyboard. Being bored of hearing the same kind of sounds over and over, he started producing his own kind of sound which could be described as electro tech with hooking melodies.



Often turned down by labels because they thought he was ahead of his time, he continued trying to produce the best music possible. He got his first record deal in 2005 on Vitalic’s record label Citizen Records, where he released his debut 12’’ EP “Ce que tu cherches”. After touring in Europe twice, playing in Montreal for few years, he decided to drop DJing for a while to concentrate on music production. Finally for 2008, you can expect a new EP from Sadmafioso on Citizen Records.
