Its been a ton of fun writing songs with the two Billys. No pressure, lots of guitars and some great tunes. Matt has been amazing, agreeing to play on the tracks, and we look forward to getting the album finished and maybe playing a few shows later in the year, schedules permitting. We have a couple of ideas for a bass player and a drummer and when the time is right, well jump into a rehearsal room and get out there: Ricky Warwick.

Homegrown, Low-Key, on the D/L, call it what you will: CIRCUS DIABLO was put together by three friends from the UK and has proceeded at its own, organic pace, morphing and changing at every turn. No pressure, no world changing plans, Billy Morrison, Billy Duffy and Ricky Warwick got together to record some songs:

a) for the hell of it.

b) to make some fresh music for their I-Pods.

c) to damage their hearing a little more.

d) for a future planned album release.

Initially, the three of them got together in Morrisons demo studio and just kicked it out. Straight rock, no bullshit. With no plans to do anything except write a few good rock songs, it soon became apparent that they had a chemistry happening. Three weeks and a bunch of songs later, they sat back and listened to what they had written. Powerful, solid, catchy as Bird-Flu. With Ricky's rhythms, Duffy's hooks and Morrison's far too many cigarettes and Red Bull vocals, they began to think about continuing this project.

They needed a drummer . hmm

Enter Matt Sorum. With a resume that reads The Cult, Guns N Roses and now Velvet Revolver, Matt is quite possibly the worlds best rock drummer. He also happens to be a close friend of Duffy and Morrison and owns a recording studio. The next step was a logical one. Record some of the tracks with Matt on drums, in his studio. Easy. A few weeks later, they parted their legs and collectively gave birth to the first record. Take two parts Cult, a pound of Almighty, a drop of Fuel (in their original bass player Brett Scallions) and beat it together with a little VR tossed in for good measure: the end result became CIRCUS DIABLO.

After the successful release of their debut album in 2007 on Koch Records, and the first single, "Loaded" breaking into the Top 40 Active Rock charts in the U.S., the band filmed the video for the single in a disused parking lot in South Central Los Angeles. It became the NUMBER ONE most viewed music video on YouTube TWICE!! With over a million views, the video can now be seen on this site.

2007 brought a succession of headlining shows, as well as a spot on Ozzy Osbournes' prestigious OZZFEST Festival. But towards the end of the year, it became clear that Morrison's original partners in crime, Ricky Warwick and Billy Duffy were too busy with The Cult and The Almighty respectively to be able to commit to another year. So with a mutual love of all things Diablo, the decision was made. Morrison recruited his Ozzfest touring partners, Rob Patterson and Charles Ruggiero, along with new bass player Patrick Cornell, and they are currently holed up in a shack just off the 405 freeway with two acoustic guitars and a Teac 4 Track recorder. Expect Album Number Two later in the year.
