The Majestics with Chris Shane "Sittin' Seaside Safari... Sippin' Suds" (Doppler, 196?) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Sep 22, 2015
DESCRIPTION:
Its the last day of summer but there's still time for a sittin' seaside safari.... sippin' suds! get to work on it!

There were at least a few great 1960s bands called The Majestics and there isn't much info on Doppler Records either. But Tom Wells, who gets the songwriting credit for this also wrote and produced Atlanta soul singer Artie Christopher's records - the first of which was also on Doppler. There's a good chance that this is the same songwriter/producer Tom Wells of Atlanta who composed The WKRP in Cincinnati theme? Also an Atlanta psych band The Hope - who also had a record on Doppler in 1968. Also Atlanta Bands facebook posted a flyer for a 1966 Aretha Franklin/Billy Stewart gig at Atlanta's Royal Peacock with The Majestic Band (https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=142580642566908&id=138484336211021). It was shared by Dave Gallagher who said he played in The Majestics with Curt Rone, Tommy Knox, John Costello, Paul Negri etc. All of these factors point to this fabulous funky obscurity being by Atlanta's Majestics in the late 1960s... I still couldn't find anything about Chris Shane but I'm assuming he's the vocalist here...

If you have any information about this artist, record, etc, please feel free to comment!

You're listening to my daily addition to the New York Night Train Party Platter playlist. Each track here is recorded directly from the original 45 (no bootlegs, reproductions, etc) to give you an idea of what the real deal authentic vinyl sounds like. COME BACK EVERY DAY FOR A NEW FIX! Because the records pass so quickly at my dance parties, this channel is an attempt to stop and focus on one record at a time in hopes that it'll turn you on to the artists, tracks, labels, etc. I'm just hipping myself to a lot of these records for the first time as well - so you can view this as our journey to learning more about cool old records together! But mostly I hope this music moves you as much as it moves me.

Get your enjoys,
