FROM the humble surroundings of Brisbane, Australia to London’s vibrant East End, Christopher Ernst in 2010 has broadened his horizons and relocated to the UK to share his much-loved music with the northern hemisphere.

Music Box, the first single from his highly-anticipated new solo record will be released in October with tours across England, Europe and Australia to follow.

Inspired by the calming lucidity of road tripping 4000 kilometers across Australia’s red centre combined with his journey to follow love to the throb of London’s Brick Lane, Christopher Ernst has made a record of gentle yet haunting strength.

It was recorded in a leafy, hidden away home studio in Paddington, Brisbane, which held a treasure chest of vintage music instruments and a backyard filled with chickens.

Tracked in a week at The Ark Studio, the EP was produced by Australian Music Prize shortlisted Ben Tolliday (Operator Please, Wolfmother, Jackie Marshall) and includes performances from a cast of talented artists and misfits who stopped by including Dajon Everett (Gomez), Jackie Marshall, Ben Tolliday, Richard Johnson (Speedstar), Heath Cullen (Heath Cullen and The 45), Adrian Mauro (Silent Feature Era) and Christopher’s big sister Sarah on harmonies.

Since his self-titled solo EP first gained dedicated airplay on Australian youth radio triple j and community radio in 2005, Christopher Ernst has become a fixture on the Australian independent music scene and his songs have found their way onto iPods and stereos across the world.

He quit law school in his final year and found salvation in his guitar living by the sea.

A second acoustic solo EP Little Pieces followed in 2007 and Christopher continued touring and recording as a solo artist and with his band Black Market Rhythm Co.

Christopher Ernst’s music has featured on major network television dramas in Australia and overseas and has received critical acclaim from music press and leading newspapers.

He has supported artists including Xavier Rudd, The Whitlams, The Beautiful Girls and Kate Miller Heidke, and has played major Australian festivals including the Big Day Out, Woodford Folk Festival, Festival Of The Sun and Queenscliff Music Festival.
