"As I half listened to the conversation and to the songs on stage, a voice slipped through the noise. I stopped talking, I listened closer. "I like that voice," I said. It was C.C. Cross. It was a bluesy, sometimes slow but not quite weary voice that would fit as well in a soulful church choir as it does in a bar. It was strong. It was a fine example of what the passage of time - experience - can add to voices."

COUNTRY MUSIC / BLUES WATCH
She's our local girl-next-door with a feisty blues, soul-shining voice and the ability to transport the listener to a livelier dimension of the universe. Singer, Christen "C.C" Cross was born and raised in Waco, Texas gaining popularity through her love of music and her unique way of dazzling listeners with her raw energy as a performer as well as her heartfelt songwriting and singing. C.C.'s career seemed inevitable with her early passion for performing and musical inspiration provided by The Gatlin Brothers, The Outlaws, and all the rest of her favorite 70's and 80's country artists. Her shining, singing the blues voice is a distinctive intrument on it's own as she gains momentum with the release of her first c.d. this year.
HER STYLE
C.C. bears watching, mark my words, as she brings a new level of blues tinted sunshine into the country music world. C.C. is an original and will control the direction of her road.
EARLY INSPIRATION
Growing up in an artistic environment, her performing instincts were encouraged in a musical family. Born to a family deeply rooted in church and popular music, the family often gathered around the piano to sing gospel and country songs. As a child C.C. played piano and sang in a variety of choirs. Taking a break from performing in lieu of high school activities, C.C. continued writing poetry and lyrics hearing the melodies in her head until brother and fellow performer, John Cross, handed her a guitar.
GETTING STARTED
Within six months of learning guitar basics, C.C. was writing her own songs and landed a place in Johnny High's Country Music Revue. With the fire to perform officially re-ignited C.C. continued to perform and spread her special brand of Texas music to audiences. Soon C.C. was given her first weekly gig and she filled the three hour show with her own songs, as well as those of her friends, and brother John. C.C. relocated to Dallas in 2005, where she found the crreative environment more stimulating and the opportunities great for anyone willing to work as hard as C.C.
AND THE BAND BEGAN TO PLAY
Christen Cross and the Documentary emerged in 2005, continuing to play open mics and small venues in and around the Metroplex. C.C.'s experiences and a growing circle of friends, including many great Texas musicians and songwriters, further expanded her audience. In the summer of 2006 C.C. was accepted into the Shiner Rising Star Competition. This experience continued to expand her personal network, helping her establish her second band with professional musicians.
THE C.C. CROSS BAND
In December 2006, the C.C. Cross (Christen Carol Cross) Band was formed. The C.C. Cross band made a name for themselves as a very unique sounding Texas music act, with C.C.'s powerful vocals and the original writing styles of both C.C. and John Cross. During 2007 and 2008, C.C. and the C.C. Cross Band, played over 272 shows each year either acoustic or full band. Major venues included Taste of Dallas Main Stage, Out To Lunch Series, Historical Sons of Hermann Hall, World Famous Adair's Saloon, and being runner up in the Shiner Rising Star Competition in both 2007 and 2008. C.C. released her first c.d., "The Next Heart You Break", recorded during several trips to Nashville and fine-tuned in Dallas, in late July of 2009. The c.d. is being well-received, and C.C.'s first single off the c.d. "Austin" is doing well on Texas radio. There are many great things to come from C.C. in the years to come.
