He’s been singing as long as he can remember. He started playing guitar at the age of 12 and that’s where the fire started.

He was raised on a cattle farm in a small town of North Alabama, called Nectar. All the cattle were his grandfather’s, who he said is his biggest influence of his life and taught him the most about being a good person. His father now owns the cattle and also a welding/fabricating shop where Chris started to work when he was nine. He worked at both until he was through with junior college at Snead State then he moved to Auburn to study Animal Sciences.

He tried finding his 'niche' in life. While his time at Auburn, as a full-time student, he and his roommate, (Crenshaw) started building decks and porches on the side. He worked for the USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service State Office. While still keeping this job, he started working at D.C.J. Horse Ranch and still was a full-time student. Sometimes the grades would suffer, but it was worth it anyway. All the while he was working on music. Then, one night at a party, some guy had a guitar and Chris' friends made him play and the rest is history.

Chris teamed up with Joe Wright, Adam Hood, and Tony Brook to complete the circle. Although, these are the four originals, they are not always at the only four at the gigs. Jay Knorr (percussion), Jody Nelson (steel guitarist), Will Dooley (singer/songwriter), Justin Johnson (Second Hand Jive), Wayne Mills (singer/songwriter), Ben Bagley (singer/songwriter), and countless others have sat in.

Chris has had the opportunity to open for some of his influences. Such include Chris Knight and Robert Earle Keen. He also had the pleasure of playing with Tony Colton just outside of Nashville at a private party for some world-known veterinarians. Tony Colton is a very well-known songwriter of such hits as "I'm No Angel" (The Allman Brothers) as well as one of his latest hits "Commitment" (Leanne Rimes). Tony also has written songs for Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Ray Charles, and many other great artists. Chris is also inspired by, friend and mentor, Rock Killough.

Chris not only wrote, produced, recorded, engineered, and mixed all the songs on his album "A Dollar A Thought", he also played all the instruments. Chris hopes his new album will be ready late 2007.

Chris now has a full band and is playing mostly in Alabama until the new album is complete. After that he hopes it will lead him back to traveling more and getting to play more venues. He has been playing 'out and about' for 11 years and soley supporting himself with music for the past 8 years.

"I hear all the time, 'Why haven't you made it big by now'? It is a dream of mine and some others around here that would like to see Alabama as a place of music instead of just places like Nashville, Austin, and L.A. It used to be at one point in time (probably about the time of Hank Williams Sr.; I don't really know for sure, but if you do then please let me in on it as I'm always obliged to learn a piece of history), but now every where I go in Alabama, people always say 'why don't you go somewhere with that.' I say to those folks, 'Why don't you quit worrying about somewhere and start focusing on what you've got here.' Most of us aren't looking to get rich or famous. We just know what we grew up with and want others in the future to have something to be proud of and create an atmosphere that, in all actuality, would create more jobs in Alabama. Now there are some folks out there that believe in this still. And to those few, I thank you. But as always there always could be more of ya'. 'Power in numbers' as a candid friend of mine always says. I say let's quit sending the really good musicians off somewhere to become successfull when we could be bringing people in. I'm not saying it's not fun as hell to take a good trip with your music 'cause good music should be shared with everyone. But, why not have a base camp here? All I'm saying is 'why should the rest of 'em have all the fun being original?' I know the cover bands are fun, but there are some really damn good songwriters that play everywhere in the great state of Alabama. Now having said that, get your ass out and support your favorite LOCAL musician?" No matter what kind of music you're into, it's here in Alabama.

"There's a big difference in this 'business' between an act an a show. An act comes from the brain, a show comes from the heart. And I still don't believe you have to be married a bunch of times or cheat on who you've got to make good country music. The one thing you do have to do is loose something. It gives bitching about something, a purpose. Someone that bitches too much, in all reality, has no purpose but to be a 'bitch'. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that if you don't have something good to say or do, just don't damn say it or do it. If you're making everyone else happy and one person miserable, that's a relationship. If you're making one person happy and everyone else miserable, that's denial and you're just a plain jackass! BE GOOD TO YOUR NEIGHBOR! I see life in many different ways and I love everyone of those ways. Different people got different things to do and just because someone does a different thing than you don't mean that you gotta go along with it. We're all the same dust and ashes, so find someone you really like and learn and 'grow' with them. AIN'T VARIETY THE SPICE OF LIFE! Live life, listen to your elders (the ones before you), figure it out, and let me know when you do. Also, don't let 'good music' die."
