Chris Kubie: The Maestro and The Mackies By Chuck Nyren:
"Film and television composer Chris Kubie has been clouding the difference between sampled and they're-really-in-a-studio arrangements for years. While listening to his lush, slightly quirky scores you're never sure if you're hearing an actual orchestra with a few oddball instruments thrown into the blend – or pure electronic dazzle.
He's gonna get mad at us. Here's the truth: Ninety-nine times out of a hundred it's pure dazzle. When complex, succulent music is needed and the budget allows for only a kazoo and three triangles, more and more New York producers are crying out, 'Get Chris!'
So Virtual Maestro Kubie is pretty busy. His music enhances Discovery Channel's The Justice Files , and projects for HBO (Bobby Kennedy: In His Own Words), A&E, PBS (The People's Palace: Secrets of the New York Public Library), The Learning Channel, and American Movie Classics. The latest aired special was AMC's Radio City Music Hall: The Story Behind The Showplace. This astonishing original soundtrack replicated half a dozen different orchestra styles through the decades."

"The delicate clarity of Uri's fresh snow flake, the humor and affection from it, to the white dance that follows, comes to life, caught delightfully in Chris Kubie's beautiful music."
- Charlotte Zolotow

"Film and Television Composer, Chris Kubie writes with poignancy and brilliance of the thirteen seasons of the moon. He has fairly harnessed the wind, stars and rain - all nature - for his instruments."
-Jean Craighead George AVAILABLE OCTOBER 2008 "One Day in the Woods" Today is a special day in the woods — the beautiful ovenbird is due to return from South America and Rebecca is determined to find and protect it from extinction. Follow her into the forest as she discovers a world where squirrels fly, deer vanish into thin air and reappear, and ducklings leap fifty feet down from holes in trees. Jean Craighead George’s beloved naturalist adventure has been enchantingly adapted for the musical stage by noted composer Chris Kubie. With vibrant performances by Alan Arkin, Patrick Collins, Barbara Dana, Maryann Plunkett, Jay O. Sanders, and others. One Day in the Woods is a celebration of woodland life for all to enjoy.

Arielle Kubie, my oldest daughter, plays the part of Rebecca in "One Day in the Woods". She was very young when this piece was recorded.now well into her twenties, "Ari" was responsible for getting this site up and running and is all grown up. Thanks Ari!! Special thanks to Lisette, Lenore and Arielle (the rest of the Kubie family,) for vocals on the "Amsterdam / Strolling in the Bike Lane" demo found right here, exclusively on MySpace Music.
I welcome requests from musicians, whatever the genre.

Peace,Chris Kubie
