THE BIO

Where does one begin to describe a persona that defies all worldly vernaculars? It starts with one word, ENTERTAINER!

Few vocalists have the talent to transform any room they perform in; even fewer can take that room and make it magic for all who are in it- MAJOR is such a person.

From his smooth 50’s style look to his velvety voice, MAJOR transports his audience back to a time when class was the norm, a drink was a drink, and people dressed to the hilt. The quality of rich baritone is evident as he smoothly transitions from classic jazz to modern soul, drawing his inspiration from legendary artists that stand the test of time. In short MAJOR is a “throwback” to the days of class, to the time of the Rat Pack or even the Cotton Club. When you hear his voice you’ll know you’re in the presence of something special because MAJOR makes you feel special.

“He is a great guy with a lot of style and a great heart.I know he’s going to make it!”-Lalah Hathaway

From a young age MAJOR was recognized as a special talent. A graduate of Berklee College of Music and the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, MAJOR grew up in the world of orchestra and bands, choirs and sing-a-longs. Studying artists like Ella, Nat King Cole, Sam Cooke and many more. This knowledge came in handy at the church where he spent many days and nights in the choir singing gospel songs with his brothers and sisters sitting in the pews listening to much older singers belt to songs of salvation. Inspired, he released his own single, I Found A Friend, on radio and iTunes as “Major Choirboy” to honor his gospel roots. To this day he is still active in the church but it’s his love for the big stage that has drawn him to his other calling.

Sung with a Mainstream Modern touch he sings songs of yesteryear, “What a Wonderful World” by Satchmo, “Fly me to the Moon” by Sinatra, as well as new hits like “Ah, New York City” and the self penned “The Good Life” He knows that life, even though it has long passed to some but not to him. MAJOR lives it, everyday from the clothes he wears to the car he drives, like his voice, it’s all classic. Now That’s Major!

“I love the years of the CLASSICS it was the GOLDEN ERA…I will represent the return of that very essence…Bring on the Lights, Bring on the Cameras, Bring on the Action! ” - Major

MAJOR has been privileged to sing in venues across the nation including— The Apollo Theatre, 2002 Winter Olympics, The Houston Grand Opera, Gospel Music Workshop of America and The Juilliard School. He has also shared the stage with greats- Israel & New Breed, Aretha Franklin, John P. Kee, Chaka Khan, Kim Burrell, Musiq Soulchild, Sheila E., Tonex, and even with President Barack Obama singing the National Anthem.

Major’s love for stage is just as strong as his love for community- Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc, Invisible Children [of Uganda] Foundation, NAACP ACT-SO, After School Programming, the New Orleans Visiting Artists Project and much more!

“I just want to give of myself the very best that I can give only to enrich lives, empower communities globally, and honor God, the Creator of all things.” – Major
