Chill Willz Bio

For more than a decade Chill Will, born Willie Simmons, has had a vision of being one of the finest artist in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas. Starting his journey at the age of 12 Chill Will recorded his first tracks with nothing more than a boom box and a tape recorder. By 1999, Chill Will joined a local group, Young N Da Restless (Y&R), and served as a recording artist and CO-CEO. While with Y&R he recorded his first real album We Off Da Top which did pretty well and led to several opening acts which includes those for Mystical, Big Pokey, and Lil Flip. With such a strong drive and the desire to do music, shortly after the split of Y&R, Chill Will decided to start up a recording studio, Platinum Music Studio. Platinum Music Studio is a personal, home based studio which he acquired just before joining Nextwun Records, in 2002. Not only does Chill Will display his proficiency on the mic, but he also extended the efforts and passion for music and with other talented artists and they created Ground Up Records. Being peer elected President and Co-CEO of Ground Up Records, Chill Will balancing life as a family/working man, artist, and president. Even though this could be a difficult or almost impossible task, Chill Will has the unique quality of being a servant-leader which is a critical component to being a successful president. Often known for his street smarts he has surprisingly accurate decision making skills based on gut-feeling. Knowing the hardships of the business by being involved with two previous labels, Chill Will has the ability to recognize a red flag from far away which is a quality much appreciated by Ground Up Records. Now with years of experience he is now prepared to emerge as one of the industries latest and upcoming artist. Chill Will is confident in his ability as an artist, and is well backed by determination and demonstration. He is currently working on his first solo album, Brotha Luv, which is dedicated to his younger brother who is currently locked up.
