The origins of Children of October are somewhat of a legend. Nobody really knows for sure where they came from or how they got where they are. As the story goes…

Coroner “Timmy Gibson” was starting to receive a lot of phone calls about bodies that entered his Morgue but never came out. The public was starting to suspect something and Timmy was getting uncomfortable. He had been conducting experiments on the bodies and was trying to figure out how to re-animate dead tissue. Initially it was with good intention; families would get their loved ones back and he would be the world famous coroner that effectively ended the idea of death. Failure after failure wore on him though and he started to lose it. After he lost his job as Coroner and the Morgue was closed he was forced to sing on the streets in disguise with his guitar just to be able to eat. He effectively disappeared by living at the Morgue and only went out after dark. Desperation got the best of him and he had to continue his experiments – but now he had to find his own bodies. He saw a young man one night walking alone down the street and he seized the opportunity – bludgeoning the young man until he was ready to experiment on. The years of practice at the Morgue were about to pay off. The young man was brought back to life given the name Skeet. “He will do nicely” Timmy thought as he handed his new zombie henchman a bass guitar. “Learn to play this and be prepared to take over the world.” With his goal accomplished Timmy was able to concentrate on his other obsession – music; and now he didn’t have to do it alone.

The two were bound by the thrill of murder, mayhem and music…but lacked that crucial third brother to complete what would be the original sound they set out to create. Drummer after drummer came to try out and some even made it to the stage for a short time, but all met the same end. “Leftovers” as the two liked to call them, are still littered about the Morgue but the brains have all been eaten.

One night the evil pair were walking through the town cemetery looking for fun and a feast of teenage flesh. They happened upon a young couple that was clearly enjoying their time in the shadows and were about to begin the carnage when a large figure leapt from above and sunk his teeth into the young lady’s neck. Her friend tried to run but the figure moved with super-human speed and agility and before the boy could take his second step he was lying on the ground beside his head. Timmy and Skeet were stunned but intrigued by what could do such a thing. They approached the figure, introduced themselves, and told their story of monsters and rock & roll. The unnamed being introduced himself only as “Rick-O,” a centuries old vampire that had come from the old country. They asked him if he had ever thought about playing music and if he would be interested in joining their musical massacre. There in the cemetery it was solidified that the three would begin a journey to take the horror punk world by the jugular and impose their relentless attack.

Through hard-work and dedication to their craft, the “Children of October” as they call themselves have experienced many milestones and accomplishments much sought after by peers, fans and the undead. High intensity and high energy shows coupled with their signature “more punk than metal but more metal than punk” sound have given them the opportunity to share the stage with The Misfits, Blitzkid, The Independents, Once Nothing, Dance Gavin Dance and Authority Zero just to name a few. They also released an E.P. titled “Tales from the Darkside” in 2007 A.D. and a full-length self-titled CD in 2008 A.D. Merchandise including t-shirts, shorts and stickers is also available through mail-order/internet and at all of their shows. A bright future for Children of October means a dark future for anyone and everyone that crosses their path…and right now everyone’s future looks pretty dim.
