The Wee Cherubs - Dreaming - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jun 11, 2009
DESCRIPTION:
This song was on the Dreaming 7" released in 1984; it is one of the most classic indie pop songs of the time and is certainly a cult hit among indie pop enthusiasts. I think Martin Cotter, the man who wrote the song, can explain it better than I can: "Dreaming was just a nice chord sequence for the chorus, and the lyrics cover an imagined situation where a fellow has been so enraptured by his true love that he doesnt realise shes moving away from him all the time (I lived for a while in a film, in a dream.), until when he finally snaps out of it, by which time its too late (when I woke up at last.) - shes nicked off with someone else. Hes then reminiscing and feeling generally sorry for himself (a photograph of two happy kids) and starting to be get pathetic (I could change but). I think at that time in my life, losing love and fear of losing love had more impact on me that being in love."

The actual 7" vinyl is quite the collector's item among indie pop aficionados these days; there were only 1000 copies pressed. Because The Wee Cherubs weren't very popular at the time of the release, only about 400 were actually sold. Martin says he had to dump the rest to make room for his flat about 5 years after the band broke up. Such a shame!
