One of the first things most people notice about Charleene Rená is her obvious star quality, but don't think it stops there. Behind the face of this young London singer, songwriter and performer is a true talent, substance and a burning desire to succeed.in a very big way.
Charleene set her sights on becoming a major recording artist from an early age and started her career looking to join a UK girl band. She was personally chosen by Jimmy Iovine (Interscope Records) to audition for the European line-up of the Pussycat Dolls franchise. After making it to the final cut, Charleene decided that a girl group wasn't in her destiny, and that it was time to 100% focus on her solo project. With a musical direction that sits comfortably along side music of Kylie, Britney, Lady GaGa and Gwen Stefani - Charleene has developed a new musical style that is unique and interesting. She's a songwriter, singer and performer with a totally captivating onstage persona and is truly an all around entertainer.
"I'm a one woman show. Music is my passion and the stage is my love. I do the music I listen to and I grew up listening to Kylie, Madonna, Britney, No Doubt, Michael Jackson and Prince. Now I listen to the likes of Gwen Stefani, Lady Gaga and Katy Perry so obviously all of their influences have driven me to the type of music I do today."
Having spent the time needed building her artistic talent and songwriting abilities by working with a range of premiere producers in the UK, U.S., and Europe, Charleene officially launched her International public profile as a hot new British singer on the rise with a sizzling 3 page feature in FHM's October 2008 issue. This lead to her also being named one of "World's Hottest Women" (along side Megan Fox), by FHM's annual end of year issue.
2009 was Charleene Rena's official debut, with her fronting the Rudenko produced single - "Everybody" released through Ministry of Sound. She lit up the screen and won fans globally with her strong performance in the track's glossy video, which gained over 1 Million YouTube plays in a few weeks, and over 16 million and growing. The track peaked in the UK Top 20, topped the UK Dance Chart and rode high in the Billboard Global Dance Charts. Charleene gained international fans when she promoted it live throughout the UK, Europe and America. Charleene's unsigned demos were leaked and started getting support on YouTube and airplay on the UK's highly influential KISS FM radio. In 2010, Charleene decided to up her game, and got back in the studio writing and recording her own material and doing feature projects with artists/producers including MyToyBox, Bimbo Jones and The Wideboys.
Actively using Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, her digital profile continues to grow, and has led to something her fans call "Rena Fever". In 2011, Charleene continued to record, tour live and make videos to feed her fans. She recently expanded her core musical team and has joined creative forces with a globally renowned major A&R visionary. Her signature sound has been expertly fine tuned and her delivery mastered and her musical output stronger than ever.
Charleene is committed and focused on delivering what she calls the next level of dance pop to the masses and is taking her time to get it right. It will be well worth the wait.
