Censored Sound was formed in Athens during the autumn of 2001. The spark was set by good friends Haris K. and George. Haris was getting back on track after his previous 2 bands had broken up (No More Uniform, Anger) and George had the vision of creating a youth-crew hardcore band following his enthousiastic youth years. Of course the line up was incomplete with just the two of them so they searched for members. The first attempt was Manos the punker (RIP) who was a close friend and ready for anything regarding hc/punk (.and anything else in general). The 3 of them rehearsed a couple of times but rehearsals were more like a beer party than a band practice so that plan reached an end.
Immediately, Haris and George regrouped and recruited Haris M, who was a colleague of Haris K. at work. The line-up was starting to take its real shape with George moving to vocals and Haris M playing the bass with Haris K. always on drums. The only thing missing was the guitarist. This role was filled by Spyros who was an acquaintance from a nearby neighbourhood and with a background in the the Athens punk scene from playing with the Bootboys (first Oi! band in Athens). By now, it was mid-2002 and the real story of Censored Sound begins. The band played its first shows and recorded a demo-CDR called “Music for a peaceful day”. More shows followed and also the recording of the first full length “Straight from the city” (2004) leading to an unforgettable show at Cannonball Records' “Knock out fest”. Spyros left the band shortly after.
By this time, Censored Sound had achieved some moderate fame in the Greek hardcore scene. The band was unique, not for their talent or musical skills but for being the only old-school hardcore band in Greece. So the band met many cool people and formed close friendships. One of those friendships was with the guys involved in Cannonball Records. So when the band was looking for a new guitarist in September 2004, Alex, part of the Cannonball crew, jumped at the chance. With Alex on guitar the band made a fresh start and cemented its characteristic sound. The next few years were very productive with many shows and the recording of two more releases, the EP “Feel the pressure” in 2005 and a split-cd with straight-edgers For No Reason in 2007. In 2008, the band added Peio (of 925 and Despite Everything) as a second guitarist for a larger live sound and to finalize the line-up.
