InSite supporters are asking the public to write Prime Minister Stephen
Harper and urge him to keep Vancouver's Safe Injection Site open, and
saving lives.
Seeing more than 600 visits everyday, each injection supervised at InSite
would otherwise take place in back alleys or in other unsafe locations
where there's high risk overdose death.
More than a thousand drug overdoses have occurred at InSite, though not
one has resulted in a fatality, thanks to clinical staff ready and able to
intervene in time to save lives.
Independent scientific research alos proves InSites success atlimiting
spread of HIV and AIDS, moving more people into detox, and improving
public order by helping clear city streets of open drug use and discarded
needles.
But time is running out - Harper must renew an exemption in Canada's
Controlled Substances Act before September 12, or InSite will be made
illegal, and forced to close.
Please visit www.communityinsite.ca, and help save InSite by writing Prime
Minister Harper right now.
Again, visit WWW-dot-communityI-N-S-I-T-E(all one word) dot CA to show
your support today, and help keep InSite saving lives while keeping our
community safer.
