CASSANDRA SPEAKS is a Seattle band with a unique and ever-evolving sound. Compared to Sarah McLachlan, Neko Case, Allison Kraus, and the Cowboy Junkies, they thrive on the element of surprise, rarely falling into any one genre. Using cello, harmonica, guitars, standup bass, violin, and layered female harmonies, cassandra has played well-received shows at such local venues as The Showbox, The Highdive, Studio 7, The Hideaway, The Living Room, the EMP's Liquid Lounge, ToST, the Vera Project, and the Northwest Folklife Festival. They have repeatedly performed live on the University of Washington's "Exposed" radio program, resulting in their EP "The Wanting" being put in rotation on UW Rainy Dawg Radio as one of the station's most requested bands. More recently, "The Wanting" has received airplay on KBCS 91.3 FM, and "Inland Sea" has been featured on NPR's nationally broadcast "Open Mic" radio program.
