Carsie grew up on an ex-cattle farm in rural Virginia. Instead of going to school, she spent her childhood running amok, and has yet to be convinced of a worthy alternative. After a five year study of cities of the world (from San Francisco to Stockholm), she landed in Philadelphia in spring of 2006, at the ripe old age of 21. Since then, her soulful, playful, intelligent music has earned her local and national respect. Carsie has shared the stage with Amos Lee, Bruce Hornsby and Nellie McKay, toured nationally with Joan Osborne, The Weepies, John Oates, Loudon Wainwright III, and The Wood Brothers, and embarked on her own tours all over the US, Canada, England, France, Germany and Switzerland. Gene Shay (WXPN DJ and founder of the Philadelphia Folk Festival) calls her "one of the best singer-songwriters in the business.", and John Oates (award-winning pop songwriter of duo Hall & Oates) says "Carsie Blanton is a rare talent as a modern songwriter. Her sly wit and urbane imagery reminds me of a female Cole Porter."
