NEW CD Laurel Canyon Road Release
January 17 2012

"Given how the current glut of Americana artists has devalued the field to come across one that restores your faith in the genre is some kind of miracle. San Diego's Carolann Ames, the Grand Prize winner in the 2004 John Lennon Songwriting Contest, she's touched by angels as her rich, supple voice soars skyward. Ames traverses the Americana spectrum without repeating herself a single time, and it's this journey she takes you on that'll be your ticket to heaven."

Audiences don't just hear the tender, spine-tingling vocals in the roots-based, Southern-influenced Americana music of Carolann Ames; they feel the heart and soul and passion behind them.
More than once likened to an angel with supernatural powers, the guitar- and piano-playing singer-songwriter born in Wyoming and raised in Texas has earned an armful of awards and honors in just a few years, topped by her Grand Prize win in the 2004 John Lennon Songwriting Contest.
Her latest album, the independently released SO LONG ABILENE, showcases Ames' talent for capturing in her songs the feelings of life, a musician's life on the road, following a dream, love, tragedy, hope, joy as well as her picturesque descriptions seen while touring — including "Love is a Wildfire," ( Nominated for Best Americana Single 2009 LA Music Awards)"Bridgewater Creek" and the title track "So Long Abilene"— as well as the disc's only cover, Elton John's "Where to Now, St. Peter?"
Ames' way with evocative word-pictures brought her the JLSC grand prize for "West Virginia," on her album SHADES OF INDIGO, and the 2008 Top 20 CD's Award from Kweevak.com. She is Nominated for Best Americana Album and Best Americana Single in the 2009 LA Music Awards along with nominations, honorable mentions and finalist status in many other songwriting competitions.
Backing her up for about five years, onstage starting in San Diego and in the studio, are Steve Peevey on guitar, Melissa Harley on fiddle, Ken Dow on bass and Rob Hooper on drums and percussion.
When Carolann Ames performs magic happens and audiences are happy to be transported to a place where pure music joyously is played and shared.

Music Review Catsask Music Entertainment
"So Long Abilene is proving to be yet another momentous feat for the award laden Carolann Ames. Ms. Ames has time and again proven that she is without a doubt the real deal.
In a music world where maintaining a consistent presence has become an almost impossible plateau to attain, Carolann appears to continue on her merry musical way with ease. Her latest release "So Long Abilene" is absolutely real and a wonderful listen.
It's no wonder Carolann has collected a ton of awards throughout the years as she's found a way to put into song, what the vast majority of us can't seem to say in our daily lives.
A "true" singer/songwriter it would appear that Carolann's songwriting talents are only improving with time much like fine wine as demonstrated on the title track "So Long Abilene" and the upbeat vibes of "Lavender Sky".
Boasting numerous honorable mentions in music award showcases throughout the past year and a nomination for album of the year in 2008 at Kweevak.com, Carolann Ames is definitely keeping her craft in top notch form and we're hoping that she'll bless us with her future musical releases so we may share what is obviously no less than a true musician creating "real music" at work.
If you haven't yet, be sure to visit her site and take in the gifts she has to offer your ears." Dusk Rodgers, CatsAsk.com
