Carlos Morgan, a talented singer, songwriter, musician and producer is poised to break on a global level. "Feelin' Alright", Morgan's debut album, showcased the diversity of Morgan's sultry singing stlye with seductive ballads like "Let Me Love Again" and "Forever For You" to the upbeat R&B tracks "Give It To You" and "Baby C'Mon".
Originally recorded as an independent release for DTone Records, it quickly became one of Canada's hottest selling indie albums of 1996/97, topping the charts at number three on The Record's independent charts after only two weeks of release. "Whatcha Got" co-written and co- produced by Morgan and Chris Rouse went Top 40 in Canada. It's inclusion on the top 50 Canadian CHR songs for 2000 and MuchMusic Video Award nomination, paved the way for his re-introduction as a self produced artist.
In 1997, Morgan was honored at The Juno Awards (equivalent to The Grammy) F/ Best R&B/Soul Recording "Feelin' Alright", 1997 Best R&B/Soul Video F/ "Give It To You" at the MuchMusic Video Awards, 1997 & 1998 Canadian Urban Music Award F/ Best Vocalist and Best R&B Video F/ "Give It To You". Morgan was the 2nd ever recipient of the 1998 SOCAN Urban Music Awards;awarded for both his talent and pioneering efforts to bring notoriety to the many gifted urban music artists in Canada. Morgan was also awarded Best New Comer and Best Songwriter at the 1997 Caribbean Cultural Committee Awards.
In 2002, Morgan had the repeated distinction to be included into the Canadian Who's Who; Canada'a oldest and complete who's who publication. "Those included are not only selected based on merit alone, but selected on the contribution they have made to life in Canada". Elizabeth Lumley: Editor.
For Morgan, the stage has always been a place where he comes alive and feels most at home. "If you've never seen this guy live, you have to check him out. He tears it up!"- Tony Young (Master T), MuchMusic.
His commanding interaction with the fans, his high energy and heat generated during his soulful jams have combined to earn Morgan the reputation of being one of the few artists who can deliver that which his recordings embody. reviews such as "Toronto based crooner Carlos Morgan puts the boots to the notion that Canada can't produce slick, sexy urban music"- SOCAN Words & Music: "Top R&B/Soul vocal stylist"- Billboard Magazine; "One of the best practitioner of R&B in North America let alone Canada"- Mike Bullard, CTV & The Comedy Channel.
Inspired by such music legends such as Donny Hathaway, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Babyface, Nat King Cole, Luther Vandross, Will Downing, D'Angelo, Marvin Gaye, Teddy Pendergrass, Charlie Wilson and Barry White, Morgan's evolution brings him to the release of his second CD, self titled "Carlos Morgan: Volumes I & II".
Morgan wrote and recorded over 50 songs for his new album. Morgan has narrowed down the album to 18 songs for this album. A couple of the songs have already been released but not to a world wide audience. The rest of the songs Morgan's recorded will be released with new production for his third album, already titled.
Morgan's plans and goals are to attract and gain a bigger audience with the R&B/Soul sound that has been missing in music for the last decade.
"Carlos Morgan: Volumes I & II" will explain some of Morgan's life journey and experiences and the beginning of new self discovery through his love for God and in doing so finding himself, the life and love that he never had.
From all the many life challenges, changes and triumphs, the new CD will give insight and light into his life story, which signifies and represents where it all started. Some of the topics Morgan addresses are his vulnerabilities, sensitivities, pain, love, intimacy, fear, guilt, lies and abandonment that has played a large role in Morgan's life, development and relationships.
Having the creative control he desired, Morgan's vision to fuse the diversity of music genres that inspires him melding them with his R&B signature so there will be no mistake interpreting which genre Morgan calls home. Using his sizable vocal gifts, arrangements and ability to deliver multi-layered harmonies while utilizing his sing writing and production skills, Morgan will succeed at making "Carlos Morgan: Volumes I & II" an album with international impact and appeal.
On this sophomore CD, Morgan writes and produces many of the songs on this album. Other notable songwriters and producers Morgan has worked with are Mischke Butler (Michael Jackson, B2K, Spice Girls, Dwele and Houston) Matthew Gerrard (Avril Lavigne, Kelly Clarkson, David Foster) Stephan Moccio ( Celine Dion, Sarah Brightman) Perry Alexander (Shawn Desman, Kesha Chante, In Essence) Ceasaro Grant of Agape 181 and Colin Monroe of CDM Music, Peter Natale and Craig McConnell;all producers to watch for. Also all these producers are from Canada.
These incredible, talented musicians and producers translate Morgan's music to the tangible on tracks like the sensual soul sound of "Real Lovers Do" and "Rain". "Break My Heart" communicates well it's title with it's timeless jazz sounds, the sorrow echoes in the hook delivered as only Billie Holiday can.
Finally for those wooed by his previous ballads, Morgan does not disappoint in the delivery of the R&B ballads "Sweet As You Are", written by Morgan to "Just Jane" penned by Laura & Earl Torno, Kurt Hagan and Morgan. These songs are destined to be cross over hits.
When realized everyday that truth, love and forgiveness are the gateways to peace, Morgan will not only have you "Feelin' Alright" but he will also show you his willingness and desire to show who everyone who "Carlos Morgan: Voluimes I & II" is.
