DJ Moneyshot (Solid Steel/Big M Productions/Proto Hype Records)

The ever-eclectic DJ Moneyshot has won a mad decent following for his killer mixtapes, bubbling live sets, and party-smacking tunes. He’s an all round good egg, and jaw-droppingly nimble ‘pon the decks. His style is mad tight, and best described as “dancefloor beats, booties and bass with hip-hop skills,” if you ever find yourself in a situation needing it.

While we’re throwing out quotables, let’s take a quick word from The Guardian newspaper, notable for its objective stance on such matters:

"DJ Moneyshot is a stupidly talented mixer who never forgets that a DJ's primary role is to get people dancing. And he will certainly do that"

So there.

When he’s not getting big love in ink, he’s getting props from cats in the field. Yoda admits to biting mixes off him, and DJ Food called him his favourite DJ out there right now. Praise indeed.

As is the style of the day, Moneyshot has recently branched out into making tunes, and has had crazy airplay from Rob Da Bank, Huw Stephens and Bethan Elfyn over at BBC Radio 1.

Besides the odd free remix he posts up over at Soundcloud, your man is now a fully fledged recording artist, with forthcoming releases on Big M Productions and Proto Hype Records, due to drop in 2011.

So, download a track, peep his award-winning mixes over at Ninja Tune’s Solid Steel radio show, or book him for that special occasion. Go on….GO ON!!!

Five Moneyshot factoids:

1) He was once a resident DJ for the UK And-1 Basketball team, but looked silly in a plus-size team jersey.

2) His four-deck shows with brother in tone-arms Parker are plain off the hook.

3) He's a fully paid up journalist, having contributed Serato master classes to Computer Music and features for Wax Poetics and HHC. Catch him every month in Future Music, his monthly Classic Album features have included Beck's Odelay, Goldie's Timeless and Nuyorican Soul's self-titled debut.

4) XFM took him on as a disc jock in 2007, chairing a weekend show throughout Wales, until the station got axed. Boo.

5) On his 2009 Australian tour he graced magazine covers, took over the decks on drive-time national radio, and played clubs in every state.
