Camobear Records is a boutique label in Vancouver BC which prides itself in the tradition of dope hip hop music.
Owned and operated by celebrated Canadian rap superstar Josh Martinez and his attorney, the label has been making headway in the Canadian music industry for the past 3 years.
Landing exclusive distribution deals with Universal/Maple NationWide in Canada and Revolver USA internationally, Camobear Records is in a position to become western Canadas next big thing in hip hop. Camobear is posed to build upon the international fan base garnered from the recent successes of Josh Martinez and The Chicharones. Martinez has been named to Urb Magazines Next 100 list, sells out shows in Japan, Europe and all major markets in the US and Canada.
His album, Midriff Music has won the award for best hip hop recording in the 2005 West Coast Music Awards and his group the Chicharones is nominated for an Indie Award at the 2006 CMWs. Martinez and his Camobear affiliates have headlined several international festivals including Austins South By Southwest and Coachella.
Camobear has collaborated with numerous artists including Devin the Dude, Buck 65, Awol One, Moka Only, Aceyalone, Non Phixion, Busdriver, Grayskul, Sixtoo, The Pocketdwellers, Fakts One (Def Jux), Jel (Anticon), Maker, Skratch Bastid, Kaleb Simmonds and The Trailor Park Boys. The label boasts 10 releases to date, with releases from Josh Martinez, The Goods, The Chicharones and Onry Ozzborn of Grayskul.
Every Camobear release to date has reached the top 5 in the Canadian college radio hip hop charts and the critically acclaimed Chicharones album When Pigs Fly has reached the top 10 in the US CMJ listings.
