Happy to say that there's lots of new news since last time I came and re-did the old profile. Most exciting is my brand new band, with a brand new sound--we're called The Small Ponds. This is a collaboration between me and my friend Matt Douglas, who is a remarkable songwriter and musician, and a darling person. He fronts a band called The Proclivities, which you can check out here: http://www.theproclivities.com/

Matt and I got together nearly a year ago for Raleigh's annual Love Hangover, which I'm co-curating this year. I'm very excited about the lineup, but it's still a big secret, except I can say Matt and I are to perform again this year. If you'd like more info on this grand Raleigh (and now multi-city) tradition, check out: http://www.myspace.com/thelovehangover.

The Small Ponds have done some recording already, and I promise to post some songs here just as soon as I can teach myself how to do that. It seems funny to talk too much about what we sound like yet, since the project is brand new. One local writer called it "Graceful chamber pop," which sounds nice to me.

So we've been doing lots of writing, lots of woodshedding, and have already played two shows locally, with some regional touring plans upcoming in February. We'll also have our very own Myspace soon, just in case you need more reading material.

Otherwise, life is nice and just busy enough. Dogs are happy and well, husband is sweet as ever, chickens are on their winter break from laying, and the Christmas lights are blazing in the neighborhood. I appreciate you checking in, and I promise to bombard you with Small Ponds updates shortly.

Fondly, Caitlin
