Brooks Strause was born in Muscatine, Iowa, in the United States of America, on the twenty-third day of January, in 1981.
At age 14, he began to write and record songs using a guitar and his voice. This is a practice he has continued to this day.
He plays a variety of musical instruments (none well) and tends to do his own arrangements.
Brooks is an avid creature enthusiast. He enjoys the company of non-human animals, living or otherwise. Domestic cats are a favorite, and have inspired several songs.
His first record, The Misanthrope and his Doubtful Faith, came out in 2006. His next record, Dead Animals, came out in 2009. There will be a limited tape release of his third record, Apostatize!, available at shows soon. A fourth solo record, My Foreign Right Hand, will be released by Very Nice Dementia Records on April third, 2011.
