In 1995 Breakbeat Science was just an idea being hatched by the warped minds of DB & Dara. While working in Temple Records under Liquid Sky, the pair noticed that not only was their interest in other forms of dance music dwindling, but the amount of amazing Drum & Bass that was being released was increasing. They fantasized about the concept of a NYC all D&B shop like back in their hometowns London & Dublin. Recruiting friend & booking agent Paul Morris they took DB’s hard earned DJ savings (against the advice of his friends & family) & found a smallish space on 9th st in the east village. The store opened for business sept 96. Sean the Shooter was quickly brought into the fold as a partner & it’s mostly with his helmsman ship plus the incredibly loyal & hard working crew there, that BBS reached its 10-year anniversary in 2006. Established now as a highly respected record label & with its own independently successful line of clothing, BBS is gearing up for a new chapter in its constantly evolving life.
