When you think of a young woman first going out in to the world on her own, what words come to mind? Poised, determined, and confident? Talented singer-songwriter? Successful and signed recording artist? Not typically. For 24 year old Canadian recording artist Brea Lawrenson, however, that is her reality.
From as early as she can remember, Brea has focused everything in her life around her music and career. All of Brea's hard work, focus and dedication through the years is finally starting to pay off now that she has signed with 618 Music Group in Nashville, TN.
The opportunity for Brea and 618 Music Group to work together came about through a performance opportunity near Nashville, Tennessee. Brea was asked to perform at the Main Street Festival in Franklin, Tennessee, the sister city to Brea's hometown of Carleton Place, Ontario.
While in Nashville, Brea wanted to attempt to network with music business executives and get advice and feedback on her music and career. Brea decided to e-mail several different music companies to submit her music and inquire about any advice. "Based on my past experiences and results attempting to contact people in the music business, I honestly didn't expect to get any responses or anything positive to really come of it," says Brea.
Brea did get a response however, several responses in fact. One of those responses was from 618 Music Group President, Zach Scott. Scott had listened to Brea's music and agreed to setup a meeting with her while she was in town. "I was initially hesitant to work with an artist who was currently living in another country. The logistics alone can be difficult," says Scott. "After I met with her and saw her perform live however, I was blown away and knew I had to work with her. Not only is she a great singer, but she has the drive, talent and personality that will make her a star."
After signing with Zach Scott's 618 Music Group, Brea will be looking to record her next record with 618 Music Group. Brea and 618 Music Group will be looking to work with the best songwriters and music publishers in Nashville to write with Brea and to find the best songs for her to record. "I want to write and record songs that everyone can relate to, songs that are about real life. Love, loss, heartache, growing up and living life to the fullest are things that everyone experiences and I want to use my music to connect with and touch people's lives," says Brea.
Brea will also be working with 618 Music Group to expand her fan base and begin touring and performing live throughout Canada and the United States. "I can't wait for the opportunity to share my music with the world and connect with and meet as many people as possible along the way," says Brea. With everything Brea has done so far, Brea's journey is still just beginning for her and her fans. "I'm excited to see Brea get the opportunity to share her music with the world and can't wait to see her reach her goals and realize her dreams and potential in this business," says Scott.
