Rodney “Boop D” Bell Jr.

Rodney Bell Jr., a.k.a. Boop D, is a well regarded hardcore rural rapper who has released three albums “Gateway to Fame”, “Downfall”, and “The Den of Thieves” and is currently working on a fourth album to be named “Chess Moves”. While Boop D has yet to have a major hit he has steadily gathered a loyal following and continues to work to reach the next level.

Born on April 16, 1984 in Henderson Kentucky, Boop D has lived his whole life in rural Morganfield, Kentucky. Many would argue that Boop D had music in his blood. His father, Rodney Bell Sr, a.k.a. Brotha, worked for many years as a struggling Wedding Singer while Boop D was young. As a wedding singer Brotha needed to be familiar with many musical genres to be prepared for any challenges that might await at a Wedding, he mainly specialized in R & B, and Soul music. This and his mothers eclectic musical taste for rap and alternative music meant that Boop D grew up in a rich melting pot of musical styles and influences.

By the time his CD “Downfall” was released in March of 2003 Boop D was able to easily top his previous outing and release what a large proportion of his fan base still believes is his strongest outing.

Boop D says “I felt like all eyes were on me for this album. I made this for the haters not the fans. Because everyone was always waiting for me to fail.” He believes the song “I’m the Reason” really shows people who he is. This album also gave his first major radio airplay with the song “Fury”, a collaboration with songstress Angela “Angel” Sigler, standing still as Boop D’s most successful song.

With the birth of his daughter, Aneesa, Boop D took time to contemplate his future. The chance to form a group with Furyus talent such as Vigo, R.O.B., and Young Thug inspired Boop D to continue the pursuit of his dream. This group, know as the Rayduz, allowed Boop D to explore different creative methods and to develop a different sound then the traditional Boop D sound.

In April 2005 the Rayduz released their debut CD "Den of Thieves". The record gained some attention from record companies including TVT out of New York, a label known for producing such talent as the Ying Yang Twins and Pitbull. However, before they were signed R.O.B. left to pursue other ventures and TVT did not have interest in a trio at that time and leaving the Rayduz future in doubt to this day.

Boop D has continued to record and is currently in the process of developing a new solo album to be called “Chess Moves”, tentatively scheduled for release in October of 2007. The material on this album has more emotional intensity and shows a more confident and mature Boop D than fans have ever seen before.

In the months leading up to his next release Boop D has stayed busy by opening for such acts as Kia Shine, Rob Jackson, J. Coffey of Black Coffey, and Slick Rick. When all is said and done Boop D says he would like to be known as a good rapper from Kentucky, not a Kentucky rapper. He remains driven to succeed at his music not believing that he will ever stop producing material for his fans.   I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V4.4 (www.strikefile.com/myspace)
